This has been added twice I believe

Thanks man. You watching this card live tonight?

SalTnutZ1's picture

I plan to unless I end up going out for drinks or something, then will catch up in the morning. Don’t have to go back to work until Tuesday, so will be watching a lot of sports next few days, lol. Watching the Warrington fight when it starts though, and trying to catch up on the Matchroom Italy card as well.

I'll watch it tomorrow, I stayed up for Spence vs Porter, and I'll watch Wilder vs Ortiz II live if I can, and Kovalev vs Canelo. I can't get the Warrington fight because I'm not paying £360 for a year's subscription, I think it's a very weak channel for boxing, all the good fights are on Sky, is that fight on ESPN for you?

How is your mom doing by the way? Is she doing well post chemotherapy?

SalTnutZ1's picture

Yeah, it’s on ESPN+. Lucky, as it’s only $4.99US a month for all the sports they have on there. Between that and DAZN, only $15US a month, s not bad. Where they tax us is on PPV, which can be $60-90US, which is very high for me, so I usually find a stream unless I have people over to watch and pitch in on the PPV.

She’s better. Getting weight back on, getting some energy back, but with her being either at home or in the hospital since March, she’s getting a bit stir crazy, and has been trying to do more. But, got herself sick over doing it, so have been trying to get her to chill a bit and not put herself back in the hospital by over exerting herself.

Champion97's picture

That's not bad at all. That's fair enough, shouldn't have to pay that much.

Great to hear she's doing better, how many times has she beaten cancer now? 3? Some going that. Hopefully she takes it easy and continues her recovery!

The WBA have ordered a Barrios vs Akhmedov rematch, surprised they did that, but it's good to see, first fight was good, very close, controversial, would be good to see a rematch.

SalTnutZ1's picture

This is her 3rd go around. She’s a tough old bird, but sometimes you can be too tough for your own good, which she’s learning during this run of health stuff.

I saw that. About time the WBA does something that makes sense, lol.

You don't think making two belts in the same division makes sense?, haha, super, regular, it's more like a burger than a world title, I suppose it's about money, but the fighters should not pay the fees.

What did you make of Golovkin vs Derevyanchenko? I thought it was a very close fight, but I thought Derevyanchenko edged it, he did a great job of doing damage to the body, but Golovkin deserves a lot of credit for staying up, and still landing good counter punches as he walked Derevyanchenko down.

SalTnutZ1's picture

You forgot interim and Gold titles, hahaha. Absolute joke, and unfortunately WBC seems to be following suit. IBF might be the most legit belt nowadays.

I thought Golovkin had his toughest fight of his career so far, but still pulled the win. He was damaged to the body, but he bloodied and beat up SD for enough of the fight to get the win for me. I’d like to see him dump Banks, and get with someone who will actually give him advice and craft in what he’s good at, being an attacking fighter. Trying to change him at this point of his career doesn’t make sense. I’d like to see him against an Andrade or Murata after he fights Szeremeta, and then hopefully get one last crack at Canelo, then call it a career. He’s been great, but sucks that he didn’t get a real crack at the big time until he was in his kid 30s. Having Pirog get hurt when they were supposed to fight, then all the avoidance in his prime hurts his all time legacy.

Champion97's picture

I thought he might have lost by a point, but I thought it was very close, I don't think it was a bad decision. 100% agree, I think Banks is a yes man, more of a training buddy than a trainer, he's no replacement for Emmanuel Steward, he's limited, and I agree it makes no sense to try to change Golovkin at this stage of his career, especially trying to make him have the style of a young fighter, when he's been effective as the fighter he is, for his whole career. The Andrade fight makes sense, should be easy to make, unification fight, worth the risk for both, Golovkin has a lot of options, but the Andrade fight should be next in my opinion. I take it Szeremeta is the IBF mandatory, not the worst they've ordered, and Golovkin might want to take a tune up, still, the last thing he needs is to get even older, and 6 months should be enough before another potentially tough fight, he got the decision, so he doesn't need a momentum boost fight. You mean cash out? Because if Canelo hasn't declined at that stage, Golovkin's chances of a win would be slim if you ask me, but he deserves to go out with a big payday, be set for life. Yeah, wasn't his fault, same as Wilder, you can only beat who's in front of you, but it is a shame Golovkin didn't get the opportunity against Canelo until he was 35, I think he was better than Canelo in his prime, just never got the chance to prove it. Definitely, Pirog would have in all liklihood been his best win before he fought Brook.

I asssume you heard about Patrick Day being in a coma after being taken out of the ring on stretcher, hopefully he pulls through.
