Titles at Stake:
Sharing a billing with WBC Welterweight Champion Pernell Whitaker in order to build toward a showdown between them, IBF Champion Felix Trinidad takes on Larry Barnes, once beaten in 40 fights. Barnes throws caution to the wind from the outset and lets his hands fly for three rounds before Trinidad wobbles him badly with a left hook in the fourth. The valiant Barnes fights a full minute with no legs before Trinidad drops him on his face with a brutal body shot. Barnes tries to beat the count but doesn't come close.
