Prediction,

Great match up! This is definitely a 50/50 fight, two unbeaten prospects, both very young and inexperienced, but learning and improving with every fight, both at the British and Commonwealth sort of level, both had about 10 or 15 fights. This fight reminds me of DeGale vs Groves, this fight doesn't have as much needle, nowhere near as much of a grudge match, but it is similar to that fight, and like DeGale and Groves, these two are very well matched.

Dubois was the better amateur, Gorman couldn't get fights, has amateur record of 11-1, Dubois didn't have a great amateur career himself, 69-6, but definitely better than Gorman.

Gorman has had 5 more professional fights, been a professional for 3-4 years, Dubois has been a professional for 2 years, so as a pro, Gorman is more experienced, been 12 rounds as well, 10 rounds 3 times, Dubois has been 10, but not 12.

I don't think either fighter has fought a good British level fighter, but they have both fought Kevin Johnson, who is an absolute veteran, been 12 against Fury, Vitali Klitschko, well past his prime, Johnson, but took both fighters 10 rounds, survival mission in both fights, didn't win a round against either, but he is probably the best opponent between them. Razvan Cojanu is a relatively good name on Gorman and Dubois's records, been in against Luis Ortiz and Joseph Parker, but like Johnson, he was there to survive, Gorman took him 12 rounds, but Dubois was able to make a statement, stop Cojanu in 2.

Neither fighter has been dropped or hurt in their career so far, not been tested, so we don't know how they will take each other's power. I think Dubois hits harder than Gorman, Gorman is a come forward fighter, breaks down his opponent, attacks head and body, but I don't think he hits as hard as Dubois.

Dubois is slightly taller, has a lot more reach than Gorman, but I think Gorman is physically stronger than Dubois, and if Dubois tries to stand and trade, Gorman takes his power, and pushes Dubois back, it will be interesting to see how Dubois does under that pressure. Dubois's reach is a big advantage, if in the early rounds, the fight hasn't got going, the rounds are tentative, that's when Dubois can use his jab, score the points and nick the rounds, we haven't seen his jab in his career so far, but he has never needed it, but as the fighter with more amateur experience, and the fighter with more reach, he probably does have a better jab than Gorman.

I think Gorman is the better inside fighter, he cuts off the ring well, closes that distance, gets in range, and then let's the shots go, isn't a slugger who just swings, and I think he will walk Dubois down, attack head and body, and if he can sustain that pressure, bully Dubois, and not let Dubois use his speed and movement, he has a great chance of winning this, I think even though Gorman looks like less of a technical fighter than Dubois, is less fast and explosive, he is also a more compact fighter, is less likely to make a mistake.

I think Dubois will get the better of the early rounds by using his speed, agility, will pot shot from range, and Gorman will have to take his time to close the gap. I think Gorman will have the better of the mid rounds, by bullying Dubois, getting the better of the fight on the inside, making him pay when he makes mistakes. I think the late rounds will be evenly fought, I think both will empty their tanks, test each other's chins, durability, and go all out.

I think this will be a very close, competitive fight, the judges will be split, but Dubois will win.

I think Dubois will control the range and tempo and in doing so, removing Gorman’s speed. Dubois showed against Lartey that he can take a punch, whereas Gorman is yet to be tested. I think Dubois in the mid the late rounds would be my prediction. Always the quiet ones you should be worried about. I don’t think that Gorman is ‘the man to beat Daniel Dubois’ and I reckon he will be ‘going to sleep’.

If he is not just saying that, then that's a very bad sign for Dubois, beyond stupid, and I am considering changing my prediction just based on the bad mentality of Dubois, because in a 50/50 fight like this, something like that can definitely be enough to swing it in one guy's favour.

Olaain1994's picture

To be fair I don’t think he’s being that serious. It’s probably his attempt at selling a fight as he’s not the best PR wise. He’s also just a bit of a weird character. But give me someone like Dubois over Prince Patel everyday of the week. There’s no chance that Dubois really believes that he just reckons he has the beating of Gorman and is trying to communicate that with his awful sales skills

Champion97's picture

Very possible, because to actually believe this is the easiest fight of his career so far is so stupid it's almost impossible to believe. Patel is extremely unpopular, I don't think he is anything special, and the way he is going now, he will struggle to get opportunities, because his big mouth isn't getting him big fights.

Brutal from Dubois! Took no prisoners. This guy is destined for the big time, 21, and British champion after 12 fights. No idea who he fights next. Hope they don't fast track him and decide to win the British title outright. That jab is reminiscent of Larry Holmes

Very impressive performance...I'm sold. Dubois knocks Joyce out!

Impressed by Dubois' performance. He handled Gorman much more easily than I thought he would. Gorman was far too passive and overrelied on a wild left hook.

Phenomenal performance from Dubois! Dubois is the best prospect in the UK in my opinion
