I think Soto was poor, could have done better, but it was more a case of Gonzalez boxing the fight of his life, Soto is a solid inside fighter, his defence is good, he doesn't get smothered at close range, hits hard, thrives mentally in the pocket, but he is a terrible pressure fighter, he wasn't cutting off the ring at all against Gonzalez, didn't use his jab, didn't throw enough body shots, his game plan was terrible, but Gonzalez was disciplined throughout, did what he needed to do to steal rounds, didn't oblige Soto, and because his footwork and control of the ring was so much better than Soto's, he was moving comfortably at times, he had to respect Soto's power, Soto put him on the defensive at times, but coming down from 112, Soto wasn't the biggest puncher he'd fought.
