Gennady Golovkin 13-0 (10 KOs) vs. Malik Dziarra 29-3 (20 KOs)
Golovkin earned the opening round and worked primarily with a jab and mixed in an occasional right hand. He too landed a few solid body shots as Dziarra raised his arms to block the jabs. Golovkin landed efficiently in Round 2 and backed Dziarra up with a left hook at 2:03. Dziarra retreated to a corner, nearly going down, and Golovkin came forward throwing heavy shots. At 2:17, the referee called a halt to the action as a pair of cuts (both above and below) had opened on Dziarra' left eye that steamed blood down the side of his face. After viewing the cuts, the ringside physician allowed action to continue. Golovkin came forward and landed a few more power shots and again stumbled Dziarra at 2:55 who struggled to see from his left eye. Following the round, Dziarra appeared unable to open his left eye and the bout was stopped by the corner.
