Re: Gennady Golovkin vs Sergiy Derevyanchenko
Prediction,
If this was a prime Golovkin, it wouldn't be a hard fight to predict, but Golovkin has been slowly declining for over 2 years, he's 37, and I think Derevyanchenko is still in his prime, he has only had 14 fights, but he is more experienced now than he was against Jacobs.
I think this is a tougher fight for Golovkin than any fight he had before he fought Jacobs, I think Derevyanchenko is underrated, gave Jacobs a lot of problems, got a good win earlier this year, against Culcay.
Golovkin beat Jacobs, Derevyanchenko lost to Jacobs, and Jacobs was probably slightly better against Golovkin. Golovkin has proven to be a devastating puncher, Derevyanchenko doesn't have power like that, Golovkin has a lot more experience, amateur and professional, even if Derevyanchenko isn't inexperienced, Golovkin is a veteran, and I don't think Derevyanchenko could come close to beating a 2016 Golovkin.
Although Golovkin beat Jacobs and Derevyanchenko lost to him, both were close fights, and I think Derevyanchenko can match, maybe even improve on his performance from the Jacobs fight, whereas Golovkin has dipped a fair bit since beating Jacobs, and can't repeat his performance from that fight.
Derevyanchenko was down against Jacobs, wasn't hurt bad, but he was down legitimately, Golovkin hits harder than Jacobs, and he will have the same punch power as before, so Golovkin is well capable of hurting Derevyanchenko. Derevyanchenko can punch as well, but Golovkin has never been down as an amateur or professional, he has a granite chin, he might be as resilient now, at 37, having taken some damage, but his chin held up fine in the second Alvarez fight, so unless Golovkin has got old overnight, I think he will still hold up against Derevyanchenko's power.
Golovkin has never been the fastest, but in each fight, he seems to have less hand and foot speed, and unfortunately for any aging fighter, foot speed, which is usually more important than hand speed, goes first. I think Derevyanchenko will get the better of the mid-late rounds by beating Golovkin to the punch, moving, out working him, and Golovkin will struggle to get into range.
Golovkin is still a strong, dangerous fighter, can still break a fighter down by going to the body and then bringing the attack to the head, but he can't throw as many punches over the course of 12 rounds as before, his recovery is slower, he will tire more easily, so he isn't as hard to beat, but it is a question of whether he still has enough to beat Derevyanchenko, and I think he does.
I think Golovkin will hurt Derevyanchenko early, knock him down, and have a great start, but I don't think he'll be able to get him out, because he won't be able to be relentless, and Derevyanchenko will be able to survive against an old and slow Golovkin. I think Golovkin will tire, will struggle to find a second wind, and when he is tired, is when Derevyanchenko can work away, steal the rounds.
I think Golovkin will find a second wind, late in the fight, it will just take him a while, and he'll lose rounds because he'll get beaten to the punch, will be easy to hit, but when he has recovered, in the late rounds, if he can get a second wind, he will be able to apply more pressure, throw more shots, and Derevyanchenko won't be able to run away with the late rounds.
I think Golovkin wins an MD, he is not shot, is still top 3 at 160, can't beat Canelo or Andrade now, and will get overtaken by other good fighters soon, but I think he will win the belt, set up bigger opportunities.

And if you want me to admit I was wrong about the stoppage prediction, then sure thing: I was wrong about my stoppage prediction. Why do you ask? I already admitted that several times to other users. Because you got in a huge argument about bias because another user picked Golovkin to win by MD (could have easily been a MD, SD, or loss for Golovkin) which you said something along the lines of "You must think little of the Kazakh if you don't think he can stop Derevyanchenko and Andrade"

I've done exactly that, last night was the last time I will ever speak to Guy Incognito, we will never talk again as long as he never talks to me or bad mouths me again. 100% agree, thanks pal.
How about this fight for a tough one to score? I didn't find it that hard to score when I watched it, but I'm surprised by how many people think Derevyanchenko was robbed and how many rounds were disputed, I read an article on Boxing Scene, and the judges agreed on less than half the rounds, a judge even gave Golovkin round 10 as you said, good thing that wasn't crucial, because I agree there is no conceivable way to say he won the round.

Re: Gennady Golovkin vs Sergiy Derevyanchenko
Derevyanchenko definitely wasn't robbed but in my opinion, Golovkin got the benefit of the doubt with the 115-112 cards. When I watched it I thought there were a few rounds that could go either way and in a close fight that matters. That boxingscene article was good, this was a hard fight to score and the article did a good job of fleshing that out. As I've said before though I think there is a confirmation bias with finding fights that are hard to score because they are usually noteworthy, and many many fights happen with little scorecard controversy and therefore aren't talked about at all.

Gold just hit the nail on the head, he quoted you word for word, no hiding from it, Gold just told you the same thing I did yesterday, made exactly the same point about what you did wrong yesterday, that quote was exactly what started the problems, the only difference between me and Gold, is that unlike me, Gold wasn't angry, didn't give you an escape route, but still, same point.
My prediction was not far off the mark, yours was, nothing wrong with a prediction being off the mark, we all make faulty predictions, but you said exactly what Gold just quoted, and you said that about what ended up to be realistic, you did so out of bias, and when I responded, you changed the subject right away, used baseless defence, only difference is, now someone has told you the truth without giving you the ammo to change the subject and make it personal, you have nothing to say.
The nerve of you, to make a petty comment as you did yesterday, with no substance behind your argument, play the victim, and then create a petty forum topic to make me look bad. You have a lot to learn.

If you thought GGG won the 2nd round he wins 6-6 with the KD, if you didn't like me then he should have lost 7-5. One of those that's so close either way is okay, but no way it was worse than 7-5/6-6 either way.

Re: Gennady Golovkin vs Sergiy Derevyanchenko
Good fight. Perhaps even tougher for Golovkin than both Canelo fights. Still a fairly impressive and convincing victory for Golovkin, though, and the judges were pretty spot-on. I think Derevyanchenko may be able to beat Canelo. Somewhat disappointed by Golovkin, but surprised by Derevyanchenko's skill. A third Canelo fight should be next for Golovkin, which he should win if he doesn't get robbed yet again.

Re: Gennady Golovkin vs Sergiy Derevyanchenko
That was a great fight!
This was certainly not a robbery, very close, could have gone either way, but I agree with the judges.
Derevyanchenko exploited a serious weakness for Golovkin, and that's body shots, if I was Canelo, possibly the best body puncher in boxing, I'd want that trilogy, and I'd be confident I could stop Golovkin by breaking him to the body. Derevyanchenko had success when he threw combinations upstairs, brought Golovkin's guard up, took his mind away from the body, went to the body, and then spun off so Golovkin couldn't get payback.
Golovkin's resistance isn't what it used to be, he didn't hold up as well when hit clean, took the shots, but was knocked back, didn't just walk through them like I think he would have done 2 years ago. Golovkin's feet are very slow, and I think his reflexes are going, but he still hits as hard as before, still has the mentality he did when he was younger, he landed some great shots on the counter, his jab was good, and I don't think Golovkin is as far past his prime as Derevyanchenko made him look in some of the rounds, he has a belt now, that alone puts him in a good position for other fights.
Hopefully we see Golovkin vs Andrade next year.

Re: Gennady Golovkin vs Sergiy Derevyanchenko
That's how I saw it too Champ. Canelo landed 46 body shots in the second fight with GGG, about the same as Sergey in this fight (he landed 50). But to your point about "prime"...it certainly looks like there is no doubt that GGG is officially past his prime. Not a surprise considering his age. Often times it is a major battle that shifts them from prime to post-prime, and the second fight with Canelo could certainly have been that fight. A fight with Steve Rolls (which boxrec formulated at 2 stars) doesn't even factor into the equation. And I would agree also, though he is past-prime, he may have some good win possibilities left in him but maybe not anymore with Canelo. That ship has sailed I think.

Re: Gennady Golovkin vs Sergiy Derevyanchenko
Makes you wonder Gold how often these fools accidentally transpose their scores to the wrong column. You know that has to happen sometimes. By the way, that single round aside, I've scored 4 fights that went to the cards with Lombardi and have agreed with him each time with our scores very close. He had Gatti-Ward I a draw like I did. Also agreed exactly with Frampton over Santa Cruz (I) 116-112. Though 4 fights is not a large sample size, if he is one of the better ones and can score one of the only clean rounds in the GGG fight wrong...well...that doesn't bode well for judging.

Re: Gennady Golovkin vs Sergiy Derevyanchenko
It depends what you mean by "the wrong column" as to my knowledge, all judges submit their scores on a round by round basis to someone from the commission who tallies the scores on the final scorecard which is submitted. In Burnett vs. Haskins Clark Sammartino mixed the two up which meant that a clear UD for Burnett was announced as an SD with very far apart scorecards. I do like to give some leeway to judges because scoring fights in person, especially from ringside, is different than scoring watching the broadcast, but I don't see any way anyone could give round 10 to Golovkin. So it is especially concerning that it was by an experienced judge like Lombardi.

Derevyanchenko should've been disqualified for constantly breaking the rules of boxing. Had he been forced to fight fairly without tens of vicious low blows, headbutts, holding, holding and hitting, lacing, shoving, pushing G's head down, slapping and rabbit punching, I'm not so sure he would've won many rounds. Given that he was allowed to cheat and was saved by the ref in at least one round, you can make an argument he actually won it. Still, I didn't think so.

Derevyanchenko is the future of the middleweight division, I reckon he beats murata and andrade, plus I dont think canelo will ever fight at 160 again. Incredible fight, foty candidate.
