Re: George Kambosos Jr vs Devin Haney
I have no idea whats going on within the lightweight scene but my feeling is that they are a bunch of overrated fighters who have a lot of hype that has come from nowhere. Although one division below lightweight, I feel Shakur Stevenson is probably the best of the lot.
Prediction- On paper its a very good match up, with a phenomenal win on George’s name - although if i feel Kambosos is unfortunately overrated as i do like him as a fighter. But, I do think it will be a boxing masterclass by Haney, constantly winning the battle of the jabs. Also, anticipating well George’s punches, in a trend that will last from the first to the last bell. Haney will really fustrate Kambosos towards the later rounds due to Kambosos being shown the difference in level between him and Haney, as Kambosos, loses confidence and composure which will only help Haney whilst jabbing George’s head off. I can see Kambosos landing a few decent punches there and that but I cant see George capitalising on any good attacks whilst Haney uses his quick speed hands and legs to evade any incoming further attacks. I think it will end in a comfortable points win 116-112, i would say 119-109 in terms of what actually happens in the fight but the Australian boxing judges/promotions are pretty dire.
I do feel bad hyping Haney up like this, I dont like him at all as a person, i think he is a extremely cocky, self centred fool, who just turns out to be a very good boxer.

Re: George Kambosos Jr vs Devin Haney
I think a lot of people are once again sadly underestimating George Kambosos, in favor of a talented young opponent. It's just like what happened against Teofimo Lopez. Everybody was so focused on his merits (of which there are admittedly many) that they were totally willing to ignore the obvious holes in their game. In Devin Haney's case he has a pretty poor chin, no power worth mentioning, and a bad tendency to get caught and get caught clean on the way out of exchanges. This is about the worst flaw you can have when facing a counterpuncher as skilled as Kambosos. Not to mention this is the first time Devin Haney is going to be facing down somebody quicker than him. Plus while Kambosos doesn't have KO power he's got enough that he'll make you think twice about getting hit every time you let your hands go.
In the end I'm going to say Kambosos wins a comfortable Unanimous decision to the tune of 117-111.

Re: George Kambosos Jr vs Devin Haney
Lopez had no gameplan beside trying to KO Kambosos.
Haney will come there to box Kambosos head off. You'll be surprised how easy Haney will easily win this by decision watch.

Re: George Kambosos Jr vs Devin Haney
I'll be surprised if he wins at all. Haney's a guy who comes in with a game plan and then tends to forget it in favor of banging it out with his opponent. It's what happened with Linares and Diaz, and Linares nearly KO'd him and Diaz buzzed him quite a few times. I don't think he's quick enough to get away with that against Kambosos.

Prediction:
Haney UD. Haney wont lose to a guy who went life and death with 40yr old Mickey Bey.

Re: George Kambosos Jr vs Devin Haney
I did call a Haney decision (which seemed obvious, and the only possible outcome), but he surprised me by winning even easier than I thought he would. Haney didn’t even need to step out of first gear, he was in cruise control the whole night. The jab alone was causing Kambosos all sorts of problems and he never figured out how to get past it.
No disrespect to Kambosos but he doesn’t belong at this level. The Teofimo win was a result of the stars aligning perfectly. I don’t see how Kambosos beats the other top guys at 135, I’m not even sure he would beat the likes of Ryan Garcia or Isaac Cruz. He needs a minor miracle to beat Haney in the rematch (which is the most pointless, unnecessary rematch of all time).

Re: George Kambosos Jr vs Devin Haney
Prediction.
Both fighters have great hand speed, are great combination punchers, but I think Haney has the faster feet, both have sharp reflexes, neither are punchers, but especially not Haney, both are good counter punchers, but I think Kambosos more so, both have good variety, I think Kambosos has the better punch selection, both fighters can box and fight off the back foot. Kambosos has easily the best win against Lopez, but it's likely Lopez wasn't at his best, and Haney has been a lot more dominant than Kambosos outside that fight, Kambosos hasn't won by UD or stoppage since 2019. I think the main difference is work ethic, he does good work in patches, but I think he's been guilty of admiring his work in fights, Haney's output is much higher, and his fundamentals are far better than Kambosos's, Haney has a good jab, he has a reach advantage as well, that could be a big problem for Kambosos, I don't think he cuts distance well.
I think Haney will try to start fast, but Kambosos will catch him on the counter, will catch him cold, and hurt Haney, which will allow him to time Haney more easily as Haney throws combinations. I think Haney will come on in the mid rounds, will get his jab off, will throw with more urgency than Kambosos, and will out work him. I think Kambosos will struggle to take the fight to Haney when he tries to be aggressive, Haney will use the ring, and Kambosos will struggle to cut him off. I think the late rounds will be close, both will look to take centre ring, Haney will land a lot more, Kambosos will land better, but Haney's chin will hold up well, and he will stick his jab even with a mentally of pushing for the stoppage, which will put Kambosos out of range as Haney initiates exchanges.
My prediction is Haney by close decision. I'd be surprised if this fight didn't go the distance, I think Kambosos has a better chance of getting the stoppage, but I don't think either have the power and volume to stop the other. I wouldn't be surprised if Kambosos won this, I expect him to give Haney problems, but I think Haney will edge it and become undisputed.

Devin Haney SD (but should've been and would've been a UD elsewhere)

Re: George Kambosos Jr vs Devin Haney
Great performance from Haney! Haney took Kambosos to school, he boxed like a veteran at 23, his pacing and tactical discipline were great, he was always likely to be able to out box Kambosos on the outside, but he didn't let Kambosos build any momentum at cose range, didn't let him rough him up, pushed him back in the clinces. Kambosos had no success at all, the speed difference was bigger than I expected, and I was surprised his timing was so much better than Kambosos's. Haney's jab was great, it was fast and accurate, it stifled Kambosos, and Kambosos couldn't even throw a counter. Haney's defence was great, he used the pivot to make Kambosos miss badly with one big shot and have to reset, and used upper body movement when Kambosos was trying to be the aggressor, and Kambosos landed a handful of shots in the whole fight which Haney wasn't moving away from or didn't partly block, this shouldn't have been 8-4 on the cards, 9-3 is a push in a fight this one sided. I think Haney found the right balance between pushing for the stoppage and not taking advantage of Kambosos's fatuige and frustration, he put the right hand behind the jab more often in the second half, but didn't pick up the tempo because he couldn't hurt Kambosos, so he stuck to his game plan. Becoming undisputed shouldn't have been this easy for Haney, Kambosos was lucky to have got Lopez on a bad night in his previous fight and been a unified champion, but Haney was still very impressive in this fight.
