This was a good performance from Kell, although you could give him a lot of constructive criticism based on this performance, he showed flaws, but overall it was a good performance, on paper Kell won even more emphatically than I thought he would, but a couple of those rounds didn't have very much in them, Kell landed more in every round, landed with the far harder shots and was always the one inflicting any damage, but Gavin was always willing to respond, and when he threw, he could land, I think Kell would lose badly to Floyd Mayweather and come up short against the likes of Amir Khan and Keith Thurman. The stoppage wasn't unjustifiable, but I would have let it go on a little bit longer. Kell did show some great skills at times, he is a very offensively skilled boxer as well as dangerous fighter, I thought his unorthodox move of throwing the right cross and using it to switch stance as he transforms the shot into a southpaw jab was unique and very impressive, Kell does time his jab exceptionally, and is a very strong, athletic fighter, I still think he is right up there with the best, but he has weaknesses that people pay a lack of attention to, and I would have been more impressed if he had managed to make Gavin miss more, I thought he was too stationary at times in this fight, and he could work on his lateral movement, but I must say I once again underestimated the physical strength of Kell, he cut off the ring brilliantly and put immense pressure on Gavin, what impressed me was the way he was timing his punches better than Gavin was timing his, and how forceful his jab was, I think Gavin badly underestimated the technical skills of Kell Brook, so did Shawn Porter, but Gavin is not on Porters' level, and he could not find ways to give Kell a close fight the way Porter could, because he could not deal with his superior technical offence, as well as his much superior strength, I thought round 2 was the closest round of the fight, Gavin was accurate as he clipped Kell with shots on the way in, and counter punches quite well, but he didn't have quite as much success as Kell, and his success was nowhere near as effective, Kell seemed the much stronger and more athletic of the two, and this was another advantage of his, Kell was never hurt by Gavin or even made to think at all, I think possibly one of the reasons Kell takes too many punches is because like Gennady Golovkin, he knows he can hurt his opponent, he doesn't feel the need to use defence because as long as he knows he can knock you out sooner or later, and he wins all the rounds, he doesn't mind taking a few extra punches, but it is always good to avoid taking punches as best you can, and get into the rhythm of hitting and not getting hit.

Overall I think Gavin proved to be a tough fighter who will always give it everything, and a very skilled boxer, and I hope he is never used as a stepping stone, Brook is defiantly one of best welterweights in the world, but through no fault of his own, much like many other great fighters, he is being under challenged. I think Kell Brook wants to fight Amir Khan, and it would be so great to see that fight some time in the future.

Kell is ranked higher then Khan and Thurman on alot of rankings by magazinez, websites, ect.

Yes, he is, but only because Khan has losses on his record and does not have a world title, and Thurman just hasn't reached the right stage of opposition, and Kell does have a world title, because he got the close decision against Porter, after he was lucky enough to secure the world title shot, no problem with you thinking Kell is better than Khan and Thurman, but you should take my points into account. That is a fair point you are making, Kell is officially ranked higher and you don't get highly ranked by sitting at home all day, but it is not uncommon at all for a boxer to be beaten by a fighter that is ranked below him, and this will not convinced me Brook would defeat Thurman or Khan, they are all close fights though, for sure.

One sided fight, poor old Gavin was never in the hunt.

Kell Brook turned up the heat on Frankie Gavin fast.
