Re: Miguel Berchelt vs Oscar Valdez
Prediction.
Valdez can give Berchelt problems with his speed, he'll use the ring and throw combinations, he can hurt Berchelt, but Berchelt can hurt him more easily. Based on how he's fought since training with the Reynosos, I expect Valdez to make himself a small target, have a peekabo guard, he makes the opponent over reach, but that won't work against Berchelt, Berchelt is a great mid and close range fighter. Valdez has great movement, it won't be easy for Berchelt to cut off the ring, but Berchelt has a great jab, doesn't have great technique, but he is a good basic boxer, he has a big reach advantage, few if any of Valdez's other opponents have had as long a reach as Berchelt, and if Berchelt establishes his jab, it will be very hard for Valdez to out box him on the outside.
I think Valdez will start well, will work in spurts, his speed will be the difference, but Berchelt will be busy with his jab, which will make it harder for Valdez to let his hands go, I think Valdez will mostly make Berchelt miss with the right hand, but when Berchelt lands it clean, he'll do damage. I think when Berchelt buckles Valdez's knees, Valdez will fight in the pocket, he'll do some damage, but less than Berchelt. I think Valdez will try not to give Berchelt ground when the pace drops, but his movement will be slower because Berchelt will have taken a toll with body shots, so Berchelt will cut off the ring more easily, will still be busy with his jab, will be more accurate with it, set up the right hand, hurt Valdez, follow it up by hurting him to the body, stop the movement of Valdez, and when Valdez isn't mobile, is when Berchelt will stop him.
I would be surprised if Valdez won this, I wouldn't be shocked, I think Valdez has a better chance of a stoppage than a decision win, but I don't think this is a 50/50 fight. I wouldn't be surprised if this went the distance, but I expect Berchelt to get a late stoppage.

Valdez UD. Very tough pick and I understand why MB is the favorite but he is very much used to dictating the movement and getting slower more predictable opponents to walk onto flurries. OV has the best chance of anyone yet to force MB into chasing and i think that will expose some of his defensive issues. OV will know that he can't stand still and he seems to have a excellent gas tank so I think he pulls it off.

Doesn’t matter if he knows or not. Valdez always gets sucked into a firefight, I don’t see why he wouldn’t now.

Re: Miguel Berchelt vs Oscar Valdez
What a fighter is Valdez! I don't think Berchelt was at his best, but Valdez still did great, I think Berchelt underestimated Valdez, looked unprepared, Valdez had the right mentality, had respect for Berchelt, but was confident, he boxed the fight of his life, stuck to his game plan, didn't make mistakes he's made in other fights, was patient, knew he Berchelt could knock him out, but he was never gun shy. I was surprised Valdez beat Berchelt to the jab, his speed and hand and foot being problematic for Berchelt was expected, but I didn't think he could out box Berchelt at long range, his timing was better than Berchelt's, and Berchelt was out on his feet in round 4. The KO was great from Valdez, he's used switch hitting tactics earlier in the fight, and was in the southpaw stance, he was backing up, and he landed a great left hand off the back foot, the timing, distance, and angle on the shot was great, and Berchelt was out cold.
Valdez vs Lomachenko would be a very interesting fight, I could see the fight happening if Lomachenko moves down, Valdez against Stevenson and the winner of Herring vs Frampton are also good potential fights. I don't think Berchelt will be the same after that, he's likely to come back, he doesn't have too many miles aside from this fight, but he took enough damage in this fight to ruin a career.
