Tavoris Cloud vs. Gabriel Campillo
Fight Notes: Gabriel Campillo gets jobbed again, this time in Texas against IBF 175 lb. titlist Tavoris Cloud. Campillo was floored twice in the first round but went on to win the vast majority of the remaining rounds with his quick, accurate combinations. Cloud, normally a relentless pressure fighter, was often caught on the back foot and seemed befuddled by Campillo's timing and rhythm. |

Re: Tavoris Cloud vs. Gabriel Campillo
I don't mind being contrarian here at all. I love Campillo's style, classic boxer with a beautifully fluid style, but honestly no idea how no one scored this for Cloud. The commentary for this fight sucked, love Bernstein and Tarver, but Cloud got little credit for the middle rounds. Watch round 5, Cloud slips under most of Campillo's shots, lands a bunch of clean single left hooks to Campillo's jaw, and gets zero credit from the announcers. Not one person here gave Cloud round 5, huh??
I thought Cloud carried 4,5,6 with the lead hook, then Campillo makes a slight defensive adjustment, starts slipping the hooks and outworked Cloud for three rounds with sharp combos, but coasted in 11 and 12 and lost those rounds close.
