Re: Teofimo Lopez vs George Kambosos Jr
Big upset. Lopez seemed to have no Plan B and he was trying to find the perfect set of punches to knock out Kambosos with, which was pretty shocking because as a unified champion you are supposed to have a Plan B at all times. At the same time, Teofimo seemed to be very emotional (to be fair as a person he is very emotional lmao) and Kambosos turned that against Teofimo. The only reason I wouldn't call this completely shocking (like Ruiz vs Joshua level) is because I do believe that Lopez only beat Loma with a bad shoulder, but this would certainly be a big enough surprise to be an Upset of the Year. It's funny actually, Lopez went from being the winner in the Upset of the Year against Lomachenko to being the loser in a possible Upset of the Year against Kambosos. Teofimo had the whole world in his hands since he beat Loma, and I was rooting for him as a Hispanic. However, he has watched his world crumble right under his feet just as fast as he initially got a hold off it. I think the boos the hometown crowd gave Lopez will probably haunt him for a very long time, since remember, he is a pretty emotional person and he was pretty unstable saying he won 10 rounds, so I think those boos will hurt him more than losing those belts ever could. I think Loma will regain his status as the king of the division against either Kambosos or Haney, while Teofimo will begin his comeback trail at 140 (and hopefully learns to actually not underestimate his opponent as bad as he did while becoming more mature as a fighter). Kambsos earned this as he literally trained for 7 months even though his baby was born and his father (or grandfather?) died. He was very disciplined and focused on the fight while recovering well whenever Lopez had him in trouble. Overall this was a great fight and it shows why boxing's unpredictable nature makes it one of the greatest sports ever.

Re: Teofimo Lopez vs George Kambosos Jr
I always knew that this was a possibility since I saw Kambosos won the mandatory. Fast handed counterpunchers always present problems for pressure fighters like Lopez. Combine that with the difficulty Lopez has always seemed to have with people who don't back up, and I figured everybody was selling Kambosos short.
Let this be a lesson: Just because you haven't heard of someone, doesn't mean they're not good.

Teo completely overlooked Kambosos and fought like an idiot for a lot of the fight. The 1st round, he was totally wild, hands down, crazy swings and got decked because of it. If he had taken this fight seriously, I have zero doubt that the outcome would have been different.
Kambosos is not elite level. Tank KOs him, Haney and Loma outbox him

Re: Teofimo Lopez vs George Kambosos Jr
Eh, he fought like an idiot in the first round, but beyond that the fight pretty much amounted to Kambosos exploiting the flaws that were evident in Lopez's game since the Nakatani fight. Namely that he's a bit irresponsible in the defense department when he's trying to land his big shots, and doesn't quite know what to do when his opponent won't back down from his power. Even against Lomachenko once Loma let his hands go Lopez didn't quite know what to do about it for the second half of the fight.
Did he underestimate him? Yes absolutely. Do I think he didn't take the fight seriously? Not really no. Lopez was in shape and beyond the first round actually treated Kambosos like a threat. He just didn't have a plan B since he's never really needed one beforehand.
I'm honestly not sure that Haney's elite level to be honest though. He's very good, but I haven't seen anything to really say he's elite. His fight with Linares, much like Lopez's fight with Nakatani brought to light some holes in the game of Devin Haney. For instance, Haney's power seems to be pretty overrated. Linares' chin is nothing to write home about, but with 12 rounds of clean shots Haney still couldn't hurt him. His defense is also not as great as some make it out to be either, Linares didn't land too many punches, but he hit quite a few clean countershots throughout. Combine that with his lack of recuperative powers which were clear after Linares rocked him in the 10th and he never bounced back, I have to say I like Kambosos chances if Haney wants to get into exchanges.

Re: Teofimo Lopez vs George Kambosos Jr
This was a massive upset, and it was down to a combination of factors, Kambosos proved he was better than we've seen in previous fights, he's a patient fighter, but in the past, has been out worked as he's looked for a counter, that wasn't an issue in this fight. Lopez was very unprofessional, he didn't want to respect Kambosos because he didn't like him, and he underestimated him, Lopez Sr is even more to blame, he likely underestimated Kambosos himself, didn't prepare his son for a tough fight, the game plan was terrible, he contradicted himself in the corner and gave Jr vague advice. Lopez tried to knock Kambosos out in the first round, he wasn't setting anything up, he put a lot into it, and he left a lot of openings, he made adjustments after the first round, got behind his jab, but he looked slower than usual, his timing wasn't the same, which was likely a mental thing, and he wasn't able to cut off the ring, Kambosos's footwork was a big problem for Lopez, he never moved in a straight line, was was moving around to the side, Lopez was having to reset, Kambosos was throwing combinations and using his speed, and his variety was better than Lopez's, which was to do with Lopez underestimating Kambosos. I think Lopez stayed at 135 for too long, that was a factor, it's always a risk when a fighter keeps making weight by the skin of their teeth. Lopez did well mentally to adapt to Kambosos's combinations and movement, and set up the right hand, he swung the momentum in his favour in the late rounds, Kambosos was hurt, but Lopez had nothing left after 10 rounds. Kambosos got the best win in Australian boxing history, he was underestimated, his mind games before the fight shouldn't have worked, but they did, he knew Lopez's style, and Kambosos Sr had the right game plan.
