Added it. I think Mchunu beats Oosthuizen, you?

If Oosthuizen shows up sober and serious, he has a shot, as he has always had a lot of talent. The problem is, he rarely shows up in form. All things being equal, I'd pick him, as the natural boxing tools and size seem to be on his side. But Mchunu won big his last time out, so he is the favorite I'm sure.

Champion97's picture

Close fight, I didn't agree with the decision, because in the majority of the rounds, not only was Mchunu the aggressor, but Oosthuizen wasn't responding with any good punches, and Mchunu landed at least one real stand out shot in most if not all the rounds, but it was a close fight, can't really complain about the decision, because Oosthuizen was mobile in every round, he outworked Mchunu for the duration of a lot of rounds, he took Mchunu's power well, and Mchunu wasn't able to sustain anything, he didn't land enough punches over the course of 3 minutes.

Haven't got to watch yet. Was it poor scoring, not enough sustained aggression out of Mchunu, or just a case of Oosthuizen putting out a higher volume, or somewhere in between?

Champion97's picture

Second one, not enough sustained attacking from Mchunu, good movement from Oosthuizen. It wasn't bad scoring, it was a close fight.

Big week of boxing next week, excited?

For sure! I got that job, so that will be my last weekend before I start. That will mean my free time will be chopped down significantly, so I will savor every minute of those fights!

Once again the judges giving more credit to the boxer that is moving on the backfoot throwing flashy punches and combinations while not really landing anything significant....this has been the case for alot of fights now.for me the guy who is landing the better shots and is the ring general should win the rounds, i saw Mchunu winning this, although it was a close fight.

Champion97's picture

Agree, but his aggression, his success, landing good shots, it wasn't sustained enough to really get that decisive win, I have no complaints about the decision, I think Oosthuizen outworked Mchunu and might have wanted it slightly more.

By the way, don't forget your prediction for Kimura vs Tanaka!

Damn, what a poor decision. Oosthuizen looked gassed down the stretch & Mchunu was really lighting him up with left hands. Mchunu won 4 of the last 5 at least, possibly all 5.

I’ll watch the rematch at some point, although it’s missing from the site here. Looks like it was an extremely dominant performance from Mchunu judging from the scorecards.
