And this one will probably start at the same time as Taylor vs Davies then Champ?

Champion97's picture

No I think on the basis that Taylor vs Davies is the main event, that will start about an hour and a half, maybe 2 hours later, I'd day 10:00, maybe 10:30.

rorschach's picture

They are on different cards, ones promoted by McGuiggan the other Warren. One is on (Skeete vs Evans) BT Sport the other (Taylor vs Davies) United Kingdom Channel 5.

Champion97's picture

Yeah I know, I should have mentioned that. Did you get round to reading my prediction analysis on Mayweather vs McGregor?

Champion58's picture

Come on beef dinners!

rorschach's picture

And both are on the 8th or this Saturday.

Prediction,

This is a decent match up, was sorted out very fast, should be a popular fight in the UK. I think the sportsmanship in this fight will be great, Bradley Skeete is a good guy, and I think Dale Evans will pay tribute to former opponent, tragically deceased, Mike Towell, may that warrior rest in peace.

Bradley Skeete is a very good fighter, at British title level, he has become dominant, he has improved so much over the years, from being a kid who was a decent boxer, but struggled with guys a future world class fighter would be handling with ease, to now dominating at this level, in an impressive way, punching with authority, power, boxing methodically, defensively, he's improved massively, he utilises his height, reach well now. Skeete believes he is world class, he believes he can mix it with the champions, he knows where he stands, he has said that at the moment, with the level of competition comparison, they are a stage above, but he has said that he would fight them, and I think soon, he will sort of, get on the road towards a world title opportunity.

Dale Evans is a good fighter, he's done well at British level, I thought he boxed well against Adil Anwar, I didn't see the whole fight, but I thought he looked like a decent boxer, and against a slick, awkward customer in Anwar. Evans does have a few losses, one of which came against Sam Egginton, Evans won rounds, but it was a one sided defeat, whilst Skeete achieved a decisive, arguably wide decison over Eggington, this contributes towards Skeete being the heavy favourite to win this fight. Last year, devastatingly, Mike Towell, a young undefeated Scottish boxer, passed away after a brutal defeat to Evans, this was shocking, extremely sad, and Dale Evans, devastated, as a sportsmam, he, like any other athlete in boxing or any other comabt sport, would rather have lost badly than had his opponent die in the ring, or from the fight, because at the end of the day, after the bell, the fighters have a bond, they get along, they are probably going to be mates afterwards, boxing is all about respect, no boxer, no warrior in the ring wants to see his opponent, another boxer be unable to go home to his family after the fight, happy, and healthy.

I think Bradley Skeete will win this fight, in a very one sided way, I can see Evans trying to take the fight to Skeete, I think he'll take a lot of risks, I think he'll try to put a lot of pressure on Skeete, but I think he'll lose every round or thereabouts, I think Skeete will hurt, drop Evans around the midway point, maybe round 7 or 8, I think he'll recover, I don't think Skeete will find the stoppage, and I think Evans might nick a round, but I think Skeete will sustain his dominance throught, finish strong, and box very well indeed, once again, making a statement. I think Skeete will claim a UD (120-107, 120-107, 119-108).

If Skeete wins, and in the way I think he will, then I think he should be well on his way to a world title fight, maybe even an eliminator next, he wants to fight Jeff Horn, maybe if the Pacquiao rematch happens, he could box for the next WBO mandatory position on the undercard, in Australia, this should be in option in my opinion, but there are a lot of options, one thing we do know, is that Bradley Skeete is a very good fighter, and he deserves the opportunity to show not only the nation but the world, just how good a fighter he is. I don't believe Skeete has the beating of Horn, Thurman, or Spence, I think he's an awkward opponent, these are not mismatches, he'd give account of himself I think, but I think he'd come up short, and by stoppage, also by a long way, especially against Thurman and Spence. I would like to see Skeete prove to be a better fighter than I think he is, I'm confident that he would do much better at world level than the fighter that comes to mind when you think 'the guy who got beat by Frankie Gavin'. For the near future, I think Skeete needs a fight which is above this level, in terms of calibre, but also profile, if he could get a fight against Devon Alexander, or an opponent who is confident of beating, but has a big name, that would be good for his record, maybe the Eggington rematch will happen, that would be great, but whichever, I think, assuming he comfortably boxes his way past Evans, he should have a fight against an opponent who is a class above Evans, next.

Dale Evans is someone we have to respect, after that tragedy last year, as a fighter, but also as a human being, he was left saddened, it was nice to see him come face to face with the Towell family, he, as a clean athlete, was guilty of nothing, he knew that, I don't think anyone blamed him for a second, which is good, but it still too such bravery to face the family after what happened, so Evans deserves respect as a fighter and person. Hopefully, Evans, mentally, won't be damamged as a fighter by what happened to Mike Towell, but rather, he can use his emotions, use his anger about the terrible situation, in the right way, honour Mike's memory, maybe dedicate his performance to Mike Towell. If Evans was to pull off the upset here, it would be a fantastic victory, I don't think it would set up bigger opportunities as promisingly as it would Skeete if he were to do the expected, but a victory here would be fantastic for Evans, and could emulate his career. I don't think Evans has a great deal to lose, so even if he comes up short, as long as he gives this everything, tries his 100% best to win, his reputation will only improve.

rorschach's picture

Evans is not doing enough in these rounds, 5-1 Skeete.

rorschach's picture

One more round like that and Evans is going to need a KO to win.

rorschach's picture

Evans officially needs a KO to win this fight. 7-1 Skeete in a somewhat dull affair with not much going on in these rounds. Last time I saw Skeete he fought a uch more exciting style.

rorschach's picture

Evans just wont let his shots go, I can't believe his corner isn't imploring him to let it all hang out.

rorschach's picture

Skeete was allowed to control the distance & pace of this fight, never had to take a single risk.

Champion97's picture

Even as a boxing purist, a boxing nerd, haha, I have to say, not the most exciting fight.

Bradley Skeete Boxed well all night.

Bradley Skeete needs a 50/50 fight or a big step up.

Bradley Skeete earned a stiff test if he's gonna take his career to the next level he needs a big performance vs a big name.

Its Skeete not Steete.

I want to see Skeete vs Kell Brook

Some promoter so where needs to get Bradley Skeete a world class opponent.

Hopefully Skeete gets a quality name soon.

If I was Skeete I would be upset if I don't get in the world class tile picture.
