Champion97's picture

Prediction,

Fury is a complete hypocrite, saying Joshua and Wilder fight bums, Schwarz, Breazeale, Ruiz, basically the same. This is cherry picking from Fury, just like Schwarz, Wallin is unbeaten, looks like a good opponent when you see his record, but he has fought nobody at world level, he failed to stop and lost a few rounds against Adrian Granat, who got knocked out in 1 round by Dimitrenko, couldn't stop Osborne Machimana, who has been stopped by a few unknown fighters. There is a chance Wallin is better than I think, he is unbeaten, been fairly dominant overall, but he isn't that experienced, hasn't earned this shot, and Fury has hand picked him so the win looks good on paper.

I don't think Wallin will be as disappointing as Schwarz, but this will be another walk in the park for Fury, he will win every round, and it won't go late.

I expect this to be easy work for Fury much along the same lines as Schwarz and Seferi.

Well, we can all say this: Otto Wallin is no bum.

SalTnutZ1's picture

If Wilder gets through Ortiz, I think Wallin showed the blueprint on how he’ll beat Fury. Rough him up and catch him early, don’t let him get a rhythm.

Olaain1994's picture

Wilder has never been able to do that to any opponent though. So I can't see that happening

SalTnutZ1's picture

Wilder has never roughed up and caught an opponent early in a fight, rather than fight tentatively like he did in the first Fury fight? He usually presses the action early and often, looking to hurt his opponent. Only a few times has that not been the case, so to say he never does it, or that he can’t do that to Fury doesn’t make sense. Not saying he definitely will or can, but the blueprint is there, and was shown by a fighter a lot less skilled and dangerous than Wilder.

He doesn't fight the type of style though. Wilder has always been a low volume fighter who fights in wild bursts. He is much taller than Wallin and would have considerable difficulty fighting with the awkward, body shot heavy style that Wallin showed. Really we should wait for Wilder to take care of business against Ortiz before we jump forward to what will happen in the Fury rematch. Nothing is given in the HW division, and while I expect Wilder to do better due to age, Ortiz is a dangerous opponent who was seconds away from stopping him in their last fight.

And Wilder was seconds away from ending Fury, too...literally one second if I remember right.

Don't disagree. He came close, but Fury got up, and Wilder/his fan base have to deal with that. Wilder had his chance to finish him after the KD and failed. We'll see what happens in the rematch.....if it even happens. I prefer Fury, but I just want to see it happen over everything else.

Fury said he wanted to honor Mexican Independence well he fought like one tonight. Mad props to Otto, I thought this would be another squash ala Schwarz but clearly not.

Decent performance from Fury! Overcame a lot of adversity against what we all underestimated as a great fighter. Wallin was courageous and showed why he should stay at this level. Fury was just that bit too good for him in the end. Would still say Fury is the man to beat and I still see him embarrassing Wilder in the rematch.

I'm not going to lie, Usyk can outbox all the top dudes at Heavyweight: AJ, Wilder, Ruiz, Fury...the question only is if he can deal with their power and size and I think he can

1.Usyk-Fury looks like Wallin the first 6 rounds...
2.Usyk-Wilder looks like Szpilka but worse before the KO or like Ortiz before he gassed
3.Usyk-Ruiz looks like Parker but worse
4.Usyk-AJ can look like Ruiz vs AJ without the KDs

What I'm saying is...Usyk is a stylistic nightmare for almost all the top Heavyweights. We saw it tonight with Fury-Wallin, we saw it with Wilder-Ortiz and Wilder-Szpilka...we saw it with Ruiz slow feet Vs Parker...we saw it with AJ being unable to deal with Ruiz handspeed. Of course he hasn't had a fight yet at Heavyweight, but I like his chances alot.

I'd pick Usyk to get knocked out by all of the above and more.

Fury can't even KO Wallin and Pianeta, get out out of here man.

And who has Ruiz KOd besides AJ? Usyk has fought harder punchers like Gassiev. Ruiz didn't even drop Dimitrenko who has a glass chin.

Usyk will get KOED at heavyweight.

I'd pick Usyk to beat all of them, this is why boxing is interesting, respect your opinion, but I couldn't disagree more on Usyk.

Same Champ!

Usyk has a great style to beat all of them. I'm shocked I'm not the only one who thinks that.

I agree with Michael Montero's opinion of ESPN's "lineal" prpaganda, it was ridiculous all night. Lineage was broken when Fury was suspended for PED's had his license revoked and then retired. 1 & 2 have to fight or one man holds all the belts before a new lineage can be established.

Fans are blowing what Wallin did way out of proportion, he opened a bad cut with a punch he couldn't capitalize on and imo won 3 rounds. If he had a better engine he could have forced a cut stoppage, I was more impressed with how Fury fought through adversity.

I also still think if Fury's eye heals properly and he doesn't get complacent in the rematch he easily decisions Deontey.

Good fight. Fury did well to recover from that nasty cut. Just goes to show that Fury is still the best in the division.
