The 2020 IBHOF ballot has been released. Here are the eligible boxers (voters can choose up to five but only three are inducted):
Yuri Arbachakov, Jorge Arce, Paulie Ayala, Nigel Benn, Timothy Bradley, Vuyani Bungu, Ivan Calderon, Joel Casamayor, Sot Chitalada, Diego Corrales, Chris Eubank, Carl Froch, Leo Gamez, Ricky Hatton, Genaro Hernandez, Bernard Hopkins, Chris John, Mikkel Kessler, Santos Laciar, Rocky Lockridge, Miguel Lora, Sergio Martinez, Juan Manuel Marquez, Rafael Marquez, Henry Maske, Dariusz Michalczewski, Sung-Kil Moon, Michael Moorer, Shane Mosley, Orzubek Nazarov, Sven Ottke, Vinny Paz, Gilberto Roman, Gianfranco Rosi, Samuel Serrano, Antonio Tarver, Meldrick Taylor, Fernando Vargas, Israel Vazquez, Wilfredo Vazquez, and Ratanapol Sor Vorapin
I would vote for Bernard Hopkins, Juan Manuel Marquez (both of them are locks to get in), Shane Mosley, Carl Froch, and Nigel Benn. I think they really messed up the last few years with their inductions and they decreased the amount of time a boxer has to be retired to be eligible, which has created a backlog of boxers that are worthy. What do you think? Who would you vote for this year?
Corrales, Gilberto Roman, Juan Manuel Marquez
I could understand if someone calls me biased tho along with Cristian Mijares, Roman & Marquez my favs to watch from Mexico
What do you think about Rafa Marquez and Jorge Arce? I think both of them have a chance to get in eventually, especially Rafa
@Gold good call man, like you said down the line maybe but when the ballot is this stacked imma have to go the fighters who used their skills to propel themselves into rare levels of excellence
boh Rafa Marquez & Arce had some names especially earlier in his career for Rafa and the wars to follow, hugely popular fighters in their time and Arce's level of stardom n Mexico I could understand it even though would have a lazy eye looking for better candidates to fill up the very few spots if I'm honest
As long as the argument aint " oh well if Gatti got in..." I wouldnt mind lol
I'd take Bhop, Juan Manuel, Sugar Shane, Sergio, and Diego. A very deep list, with a lot of deserving fighters.
The ballot is going to get even more stacked next year...Mayweather, Klitschko, Ward, Cotto, and Toney (finally) will all be eligible and only three will make it.
Yuri Arbachokov, Nigel Benn, Carl Froch, Joel Casamayor, Ricky Hatton, Sergio Martinez, Juan Manuel Marquez and Antonio Tarver.
No Hopkins or Mosley?
Maybe next time . . .
Juan Manuel Marquez, Bernard Hopkins, Shane Mosley, Sergio Martinez, Antonio Tarver.
Mosley and Hopkins for their longevity and big resumes. Marquez as well.
Martinez, Tarver and also Marquez for all the great moments they gave me in boxing. Like Tarver being the first one to KO Roy Jones, Marquez KO'ing Pacquiao (legendary obviously), Sergio Martinez KO'ing Paul Williams.
Iconic stuff. I wish I could include more than 5.
I think Martinez deserves to make it.
