Re: Amir Khan vs. Chris Algieri
Good Fight. I think its funny how Khan calls out May when he wanted no part of Brook or Thurman.. lol well I guess he will be in for the money and not a win.

Re: Amir Khan vs. Chris Algieri
As commentators and Virgil Hunter noticed - Algieri fought "out of his character", which was really the only option to have any success in this fight. If he fought his usual outside-boxer fight, he would be totally outclassed, so I'm really impressed with Algieri's gameplan and its execution. Still I feel Khan clearly deserved a win, however thanks to this quite suprising tactics of Chris it was much closer fight than I expected.
The other thing is, that Algieri looked huge, I mean - I've seen him in numerous fights before and he was big 140, but it was surprising to me how big Algieri looked compared to quite a big welterweight like Amir.
Overall - fun fight to watch.

Re: Amir Khan vs. Chris Algieri
I was expecting Algieri to have a better close range game, but he proved to be a very one-dimensional fighter. Horrible stalking and that overhand right had too many telegraphic elements on it. Khan just did his job well...swarm hell upon his opponent, move away and then re-engage.
The most relevant aspect I would highlight: Khan definitely can be timed. To Algieri's credit, he was able to counter Khan on several occasions with clean punches that made some rounds to seem close. If a Mayweather fight was to happen, maybe Khan's chances aren't as good as I once thought

Re: Amir Khan vs. Chris Algieri
Chris Algieri was fantastic in this fight!
Not Khan's best performance, decent, he showed us he can fight on the inside, well, reminded us, he did that in the Collazo fight, but he did do that well, but I think he might have underestimated Algieri, he probably didn't expect such an aggressive, strong, pressurising Algieri!, I think Khan might have thought of Algieri as a non-puncher, and expected to be able to walk through his shots to land his own, but he was wrong, Algieri hurt Khan a few times, he was really shaken a couple of times. I thought Khan was disappointing in a lot of ways in this fight, his defence wasn't great, his range control didn't seem to be what it usually is, his feet seemed a little bit slower Khan looked good at times, it wasn't a bad performance, but not his best, not great, certainly didn't look like that Amir Khan who dominated Devon Alexander 5 months prior to this. I believe Khan claimed he had been suffering with a head cold just before this fight, and that was a factor in this fight.

Re: Amir Khan vs. Chris Algieri
I think he's very good, he's maybe not quite as good as Adrien Broner, but that would be a good fight, close in my opinion, I think for a guy who started boxing at 23 (although he had kick boxing experience) he has achieved a lot, I thought his performance against Provodnikov was great, he's beaten Emanuel Taylor, not a bad victory, and his performance against Khan was great, he showed heart against Manny Pacquiao, but like Margarito, Rios, Mosley, lost a very wide decision, I don't think he's in the same class as Thurman, Spence etc, and I don't think he's as good as Tim Bradley.

I'am put it to you like this if Spence loss I would be more upset but I can make a Boxing case for both of them winning. But Spence is my pick.

Re: Amir Khan vs. Chris Algieri
My thought exactly my friend, I'm so glad Spence won on Saturday and very happy for him, man down!, haha. I wonder when Spence vs Thurman could happen, due to a few reasons, weight, how much longer can they make 147?, if they are both struggling, then this might not hold up the fight, but Thurman's injury, IBF rules.

If Brook returns, and moves up to 154, hiw do you see him doung against thise champions? I think he's in the middle, I think he beats Lara, Hurd, especially Hurd, but I think Charlo, and Andrade might have a bit too much for him.

Re: Amir Khan vs. Chris Algieri
No way on 154 for Brook I want Khan or another UK Boxer up and coming Sam Eggington,Bradley Skeete something like that. Then before Kell Brook's career is over he must have a rematch with Shawn Porter there styles match up well.

Re: Amir Khan vs. Chris Algieri
But given that we now know the weight was too much, is it really right that he remains at 147?, either way I'm almost certain that if he returns, he will move up, I mean, there are some great fights up there, Charlo, Andrade, and hey, Thurman, Spence, who says they are not moving up as well at some stage?
The Khan fight is unlikely to happen, I suppose Khan might get his pen out now he sees weakness in Brook, but I wouldn't get your hopes up about that. I think they are still a level below, although both very good fighters, and theyabre great match ups, I think world level fights at 154 are better for Brook. He should have given Porter a rematch, but he was never going to fancy that, and that's almost certainly not going to happen. I honestly don't believe Kell can make 147 again without being drained. I think the man to fight at 154 is Jarrett Hurd.

Amir Khan has become a total sellout! He is ducking tough fights and taking big paydays. Sorry to any of his fans but he has never beaten a guy that was near the top at the time he fought him.

I can see how you can say that he tried his hand at the floyd Mayweather system and it did not work the same way.

No Controversy Algieri clearly lost, only won enough rounds to be competitive but Amir Khan was never in any danger of losing.
