Funny thing about this of Lanas' 4 loses for his career this was the only one that wasn't by KO at the hands of the Hands of Stone.

first 4 rds close 8 competitive, Duran unable to steal the 12th in the second half of rd

rd 1 Duran comes out with bombs early the difference in power is no match for hometown fighter early which becomes even more apparent when DUran counters Lanas attempted body shots with a hard uppercut that momentarily stops Lanas in his tracks but over the rd Lanas stay touching Duran on the inside to cut into Duran's lead in rd...in spots Duran's old magic resurfaces drawing out a counter, set defensive moves to get on the inside, beautiful placement of multiple shots in vulnerable spots mainly to the body and tieing up preventing return fire early you can Duran setting up a counter left but much slower wit his execution helping Lanas block it BUT TO LANAS' CREDIT...he was landing real power shots too especially lifting Duran's head with uppercuts on the inside (through out fight also) as the legend is slower with his reflexes...while each one of the on their own dont match Duran's heavy handed bombs it does have the cumulative effect plus especially when it has the effect of tilting Duran's head like this one exchange Lanas catches with a left then pivots into a beautiful uppercut that lifts his head as the rd progress Lanas is able to catch DUran on the ropes while most of them blocked Lanas manages to get a couple clean through including a good right and once Duran comes fighting of rope the fighter wit the most success busy and landing is Lanas...close rd wit Duran's earlier bombs and in body punching exchanges even when Lanas is landing 2-1 exchanges DUran getting in much hard shots and getting better leverages to hardly ever let Lanas win those exchanegs...PLUS DURAN's shots are easier to see from 4 corners whereas Lanas best work s on the inside and while on the turn sometimes are much more difficult to spot and need to be paying constant attention to whose getting better of damn near every exchange on the inside with Lanas creativity catching Duran catching Duran at times on the inside but at mid range moslty the power differental in Duran's favor is more apparent earlier on

rd 3 & 8 when both fighters are landing quality shots more or less in the same ball park as landed volume Duran takes it with his heavy handed punching, rd 3 towards the end of yet another exchange its Duran whose shots are heavier plus having more impact on his opponents, forcing Lanas on the ropes raking him with uppercuts

rd 8 Lanas does some damage in the middle minute with uppercuts and rights, and even has success later catching the legend wit couple shots off the ropes but Duran's quality of work this rd is the stuff of legends at the start Lanas starts more active, Duran counters with a couple body shots moments later catching Lanas with a crushing right that may have been the pbest punch of the round if it wasnt for 2 beautiful counter hooks of the ropes on two adjacent sides in the middle and last minute respectively catching Lanas coming in cutting range and timing them between Lanas's punches both showing visible effects on Lanas the second one visibly hurting his legs..i felt anyway...Duran also is able to land his left better in clinches too..Lanas has his fair share of landed punches this rd but quality is what counts and that Lanas imprint on Duran was no match put back on this

rd 4 was pretty close i felt Lanas stole it with an overhand right, felt rds 5,6 competitive margins for Lanas, and in rds 7,9 clear cut margins of victory for Duran
rd 12 Lanas catches Duran early moments later Duran drops his hands clowns takes a couple stiff jabs and a big right on the jaw early for it, most of the middle minute they spend on the inside, more clinching, less punching...alter in the second minute Duran lets his hands go and is cutting into Lanas'lead he lands this exquisite jab good body punch in the final minute brings a right from a crazy arc to take the lead near centre ring on my card Lanas then pushes Duran on the ropes while Duran does a good job anticipating he is a bit slow executing as Lanas is active enough and able to tag the legend enough in the dying moments as Duran was tiring to steal back that rd on my card
