I was watching it, thinking this is either the worst commentary I've ever heard or there is a different fight that the cameras can't see. Judges agreed; although not sure about 117-111 Ramos. Second half of the fight was close. Ramos had a lot blocked but he had a lot that got through that nobody mentioned. Could easily have given 3 and 12 the other way too. SD fair for me.

I watched with no volume on, if you're generous, MAYBE you can give him 4 rounds, and that's being EXTREMELY generous.

If *you're* generous. I gave him 5 and I thought he was in with a shout of 7. And I watched that with an extremely biased commentary making me doubt myself the whole way.
Turns out I was watching the fight and they weren't.

I can see how you can give it wide to Ugas btw but to say he routed it just ain't true. He got shown up as getting a bit old in my opinion, didn't have the energy to throw as much he or the corner wanted him to throw and Ramos took advantage. First time I've seen Ramos fight I think but if he'd been just a little more accurate he would have won the fight for me.

I respectfully disagree, I agree there were signs of Ugas's age, but that's not surprising given he's 34, I agree he didn't throw as much as he could have done if he was a young fighter, but he threw far more punches than Ramos, I don't think Ramos took advantage of Ugas tiring in the late rounds, I thought inactivity was his biggest problem, especially in the early rounds.

We'll see. Prediction: Ugas gets smashed in his next big fight,

Champion97's picture

I think he beats Pacquiao, Mikey, and nobody smashes him, he proved how good he was against Porter, he hasn't taken enough damage to plummet and get old overnight, he is consistent as well, so he should just decline gradually with age unless he has a couple of wars. Given what we've seen from him in the last 2-3 years, it's hard to argue Ugas gets smashed in any big fight, just based on this fight.

Pac's an old man and Mikey's not a great welter so no argument there. Agreed with the Porter fight but maybe it took something out of him. Maybe I'm underestimating Ramos, it was the first time I'd seen him fight. He struggled early doors and even though Ugas still might have had the class, I thought he was the one pushing the action and he made the second half of the fight competitive. Smashed may have been an exagerration but the corner definitely told Ugas he was slowing down and asked him not to get lazy at one point and I think that was him struggling with the pace rather than getting lazy.

Come on man, look at his last 3 fights, he beat Broner as wide as Mikey did at 140. Mikey is still a good fighter even though he isn't the same at 147. I doubt it, the Dulorme fight was more damaging, and I think the Robles fight was as well. You might well have done, but to be fair, I expected either a shut out or a stoppage for Ugas. I can only disagree he was pushing the action because he was backing up and Ugas was throwing a lot more shots. I know he slowed down, and the last 3 rounds were very close, but I thought Ugas was already a street ahead, both of them slowed down, but it might be to do with Ugas's age, but he should have been more patient and not tried as hard to hurt Ramos, because Ramos took his shots well, Ugas will have to adapt to not being able to throw as many shots as he gets older, but he didn't slow down so much he lost a single clear round in the whole fight, I could score 5 and 12 the other way, but also 10 and 11.

I don't agree Ugas threw more shots either. I can only call it how I saw it and the fact all 3 judges disagreed with Ugas wide (although even I can't see Ramos wide) means I wasn't the only one. I said before I can see Ugas wide (still couldn't get 118-110) as I gave Ramos a couple of tight ones but I'm baffled that people don't think Ramos was in the rounds.

Not unless it's the latest post in a discussion or it's on a forum page you created, Zoe might get round to installing a delete option at some stage, but if you want to delete a comment, I'd just get rid of the text, and leave a full stop.
