Re: Fight Of The Century: Joe Frazier vs. Muhammad Ali I...
What a fight, both men clearly left it all on the line in this fight and really their entire trilogy! Now I actually scored this fight probably months ago on BoxRec and I only joined Eye on the Ring about.....like 15 minutes ago, so I'm just gonna state things from memory here. Rounds 1-5 Ali did pretty good and scored with the jab quite effectively, which is impressive considering the bobbing and weaving Frazier was showing. Problem was that he clearly could not hurt Frazier once as evidenced by what followed. Frazier personally won 9 of the last 10 rounds because he constantly was able to get Ali into the ropes and it seemed as if Ali TRIED to "hit and not get it," however the comeback fights up until Frazier 1 were transition fights for Ali going from that "hit and not get hit" style to a style that required alot of resiliency if anything. Ali occasionally scored with a jab, but Frazier would usually come back with a very strong hooks that can shake any heavyweight to have ever existed. I had Frazier 8-6 after 14 rounds, and the 15th simply sealed the deal for me(9-6).
