Re: Ted Cheeseman vs James Metcalf
Prediction.
Cheeseman is definitely the more proven British level fighter, he's been 12 rounds 3 times since Metcalf last went past 1, his last fight was a lot more recent than Metcalf's, he's been a lot more active than Metcalf, but Metcalf was impressive against Welborn, has been a professional since 2011. Metcalf can't hurt Cheeseman to the head, and he can't match him for output, but he can definitely hurt him to the body, the body shots are there for Metcalf, he doesn't have fast feet, doesn't look hard to get to, but he has good footwork, and a great jab. If Cheeseman can cut off the ring, get off first and jab his way in, work on the inside, without taking accurate body shots, he can win, but if Metcalf can keep him on the end of his jab, and get his body shots off, he should win.
I think Cheeseman will start fast, out work Metcalf, Metcalf's timing will be poor, Cheeseman will be able to work, but he'll struggle with Metcalf's footwork, Metcalf will have more success with his jab in the mid rounds, and he'll set up the right to the body, which will do a lot of damage, Cheeseman will try to fight on the inside, but Metcalf will make an adjustment with his feet and attack the body at mid range before Cheeseman can close the gap, will do all the damage. I think Cheeseman will rally in the late rounds, out land Metcelf, but Metcalf will keep doing damage to the body, and that will stop Cheeseman swinging the fight in his favour.
I wouldn't be surprised if Cheeseman won by decision, or if Metcalf got a late KO, but I think Cheeseman has the fitness and durability to get up from a sickening body shot knock down, and to recover from being hurt. I think Metcalf wins a UD.

Re: Ted Cheeseman vs James Metcalf
Great performance from Cheeseman in the end there. Got that 2nd wind in the 9th and that was enough for him. He got hammered at the end of the 11th, i thought he was knocked out on his feet for a second, he got through and 20 seconds later destroyed Metcalf!
Great fight. That was a proper British title fight. Experience was the difference in the end. Cheeseman showed good boxing IQ there.
Make no mistake though, he's a good British level fighter....but that's it.

Re: Ted Cheeseman vs James Metcalf
Metcalf couldn't establish his jab, Cheeseman made better use of his feet, dictated the pace, his defence was better than in the past, and because he was throwing combinations, and was moving in and out of range, Metcalf struggled to get his body shots off, Cheeseman didn't let him get into a rhythm, his inactivity was definitely a factor, but Cheeseman boxed well. Metcalf was a very easy target for the right hand throughout the fight, that's the shot that hurt him in round 4, he was hurt bad, had no survival skill, stayed up on heart and fitness. Metcalf deserves a lot of recognition for rallying after that beating, Cheeseman's tank wasn't empty, and Metcalf out worked him, he recovered well between rounds, Cheeseman took his foot off the gas in rounds 5 and 6, but Metcalf hurt him round 7. Cheeseman's 12 round experience might have been the difference in the late rounds, he smothered Metcalf's shots, out worked him, and took more out of Metcalf than himself. I don't think Cheeseman was hurt as bad in round 11 as in round 7, Metcalf thought he hurt him worse than he did, Cheeseman recovered quickly, but as Metcalf was trying to build on it, he missed wildly, the fatuige made him an easy target, he was slow to prepare for the next shot from Cheeseman, he didn't see the left hook coming, he didn't have much resistance after the earlier beating, and Cheeseman got a clean KO.
