Regarding round 1: If you gave Kambosis the round and he had a knockdown, aren't you required to score it 10-8?

It's more of custom than an actual rule.

I believe the ABC rules would want you to score it 10-8 because of the knockdown, but I don't know if they "require" that of judges in practice. Their rules also heavily discourage 10-10 rounds which some judges/pundits score.

There are cases where you can and should score a knockdown round 10-9. A good example would be round 4 of Cunningham vs Adamek I. Cunningham had Adamek out on his feet for most of the round before being dropped. A good way to think about it is, would the fighter that got knocked down have scored a 10-8 without knocking his opponent down. In my opinion, the first round of this fight doesn't meet that criteria. Kambosos got buzzed once or twice, but we was never in any danger of being taken out of there. Thats my two cents at least

To clarify what the ABC rules say:
"A judge can only score a knockdown when the referee declares one.
In most cases two (2) points may be awarded for the first knockdown in a round, for either fighter, one (1) point thereafter for each additional knockdown. However, in rare cases, good discretion must be used and a judge may award only one (1) point in cases where the boxer who suffered the knockdown clearly dominated the round."
So what you are saying for Cunningham vs. Adamek would be fine by the ABC rules, I didn't consider anything different than 10-8 for the Lopez vs. Kambosos round either.

I don't think so, to close the argument 2 judges had it 10 9 in that particular round
