Re: Kell Brook vs Amir Khan
Prediction.
Brook has fought twice since Khan's last fight, and I was more impressed by him against Crawford, but I think Khan training with BoMac gives him more of a chance. I think both fighters are shot, which takes a lot away from the significance of the fight, but it gives both fighters more to exploit, Khan will be even less resistant to a big shot, Brook's recovery is poor, it will be worse now, and Khan's speed is enough to damage his eyes. Khan will have lost speed, Brook won't have the timing he had before, but Khan should be easy to counter because of his inactivity. Brook shouldn't be weight drained at 149 if he does everything right, but his discipline after the Crawford loss will be important, Khan has seemed to live the life more over the years, and if Brook's conditioning is worse than Khan's, that costs Kell a lot, because he can potentially get stronger as the fight goes on, as his timing beats Khan's hand speed, and Khan is forced to react defensively and exert more movement. It's important for both fighters to take centre ring, both will have to be conservative, and look to make the opponent work harder than them.
I think Khan will start faster, will let his hands go, throw varied combinations, and put Brook on the defensive for the first 2 rounds, but Brook will be patient, will look to get his jab off as Khan goes on and off the attack, will adapt to Khan's speed, time a counter, and hurt Khan. I think once Brook has hurt Khan, the momentum will swing in his favour, Brook will get behind his jab when Khan is on the move, Khan will struggle offensively, whenever Khan takes a risk and stands in the pocket, he will come off worse, and Brook will be dominant in rounds 4-6. I think both fighters will gas after 6-8 rounds, Brook's power will have dipped more than Khan's speed, but Brook will out jab Khan, will still do damage when he lands a counter, and the pace dropping will cost Khan more as the more reliant foot speed, but Brook won't have in the tank to finish Khan.
I wouldn't be surprised if Khan won, I think he's the better athlete, and he has a better team for this fight, but I think Brook will win a UD, I wouldn't be surprised if he stopped Khan.

Re: Kell Brook vs Amir Khan
It may well be a good 5 years too late but this is still an intriguing fight and I'm really looking forward to it.
I've always thought the best Kell Brook beats the best Amir Khan. I agree that timing beats speed and beating Khan is usually a case of giving yourself 3-4 rounds to get used to the hand speed and wait for him to slow down, then land the heavy shots.
The question is what have they both got left? Brook looked really good for a few arounds against Crawford, he looked like the old Kell Brook, with that great judge of distance and fast reflexes. Worryingly though, the first real shot landed by Crawford knocked him out on his feat. It's hard to judge the significance of this as Crawford carries so much power. Was that Crawford being powerful or was Brook's punch resistance gone at 147? I'm edging towards the latter.
How much will the few extra lbs make? Brook's several references to 'having to fight at 149' concerns me. I think he's probably going to struggle a bit with weight. So how will that affect his punch resistance? We know Khan doesn't have heavy hands but if Brooks punch resistance has gone it won't matter.
This is a proper 50/50 in my book as we just don't know what either has to offer. I think if Brook can take Khan's accumulation of shots without getting badly hurt in the first 3-4 rounds, I can see Kell taking over and landing a knockout punch. If I were Kell, I wouldn't be looking to blow him out in a couple of rounds. He should approach it like he did the Crawford fight, establish distance, get used to the speed. Then, take over.
I don't think it will last the distance. Prediction - Brook TKO round 5/6. However I wouldn't be surprised to see Khan take Brook out inside 4.

Re: Kell Brook vs Amir Khan
Great performance from Brook, terrible performance from Khan. I'm surprised the fight was so one sided. Khan used his movement and let his hands go, Brook couldn't punch with him when he threw a cluster of punches, but his defence was very good, Khan's speed didn't affect him mentally, he was out of position to be hit with Khan's right hand, which took a lot away from Khan's offence. Brook was patient, but he took centre ring, defended on the front foot, and when he timed the right hand, he did a lot of damage, it was an accurate shot, he didn't punch himself out, picked his shots, took full advantage when Khan's movement briefly stopped. I think Brook had a mental edge, the personal dislike seemed to affect Khan's performance, part of that was because he couldn't take centre ring, and he wasn't prepared to box on the back foot once Brook had the forced him to give ground. I don't think Khan fully recovered after being hurt in round 3, Brook knew the right was there, he was timing Khan easily, Khan didn't adapt to it at all, Brook was doing more and more damage as he landed it.

Re: Kell Brook vs Amir Khan
Agreed. The only positive to come from it was watching Khan get his ass beat, but yeah. This fight was like 5-10 years too late.
