R1- Unlike their last fight, this one has great camera quality. Hardly any of the first round is on film, but Walcott is outjabbing a plodding Louis and confusing him with his footwork and feints.

R2- Walcott continues to potshot the jab at Louis, who still has not figured out his movement and feints.

R3- Love seeing Walcott get up close with zigzag type footwork and head movement. After baiting Louis by showing him his back, he puts him down for the third time in two fights with a perfectly-timed cross. Louis is up right away and avoids any real danger after. Just like their first fight, Walcott has established a four point lead in the first three rounds.

R4- Louis gets Walcott on the ropes and starts to unload with some success. Though not landing anything clean, Walcott fights his way off the ropes. A right and a check hook later land for Louis, who seems to have woken up after the knockdown.

R5- Walcott is keeping the jab in Louis’ face early. Louis manages to cut Walcott off with a 1-2 to the face before landing another soon after. Walcott decides to exchange then, buckling Louis with a right hand. Despite showing signs of adaptation, Louis did not do enough to win the round.

R6- Louis seems to figure out that the best way to put punches together on Walcott is to start off at the body. No clue how much it landed off screen, but the check hook has been very accurate for Louis thus far in the fight.

R7- Mere seconds of this round exist on film. From what I can see, Louis outjabs Walcott in it, so I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt. Wish I could find a blow by blow report like I did for the first fight.

R8- Walcott is applying more pressure than usual and is busier, as he scores with at least one combination to the head from what’s seen.

R9- Louis is finding Walcott with the jab. Walcott lands a lead right, only to walk into a harder one from Louis, who lands a couple more short shots to the head after.

Re: Joe Louis vs Jersey Joe Walcott II Scorecard by Addi_Bomaye
R11- After 25 full rounds, Louis finally seems to be adapted to Walcott’s awkward and complex style. Showing patience, he times the herky jerky Walcott with a cross, wobbling him. Louis traps him on the ropes, strafing him with body shots and utilizing his uppercut for the first time in the fight. As Walcott tries to fight his way out of dangger, Louis displays shocking hand speed for the time of his career, blasting Walcott with three more crosses and a pair of left hooks mixed in. Each punch does damage and succeeds in bringing Walcott down to the canvas. He attempts to gather himself, but ultimately fails to beat the count. One of the most triumphant wins and rounds as a whole in the career of Joe Louis. On paper this was a second win over a guy he had just beat. However, this felt like revenge and a hail mary in his career to show he was not through yet. Despite being in the process of being outboxed again (officially this time too), the fact Louis was able to make the right adjustments needed to knock out arguably his best opponent at the time while being clearly past it speaks volumes. Epic win for Louis, and the fact Walcott would go on to win a title and beat Ezzard Charles back to back after this adds weight to the win. I wish Louis would ride off into the sunset after this win, but I understand why that did not happen.
