If anyone out there is interested in being able to add to the fight vault database, let me know here.

I would love to be able to do that!
Cool! I just gave you permission to add fights - you should see a new "Add Content" option on your user menu (top left). If you try that out, you can use the form to add new fights.
I'm working on improving the database, and having someone else using the forms also will actually help me out a lot. Another way of saying this, is that if you encounter an error at some point - don't worry, that actually helps me. I'll see helpful info in the logs...
When you say encounter an error, do you mean a technical error with the process of adding fights?
Yes. That may happen... if you're adding a fight and you get an error message with a bunch of code, it will look ugly, but don't panic.
(It's unlikely. I just mention it because I don't want anyone to worry if an error did pop up... )
Hey Zoe, this is awesome!!
I hope you don't mind me including pictures from fights, face offs and weigh ins, rather than just posters, I just feel it brings something new to Eye on the ring. There was something else I wanted to ask you, is there a way you could give us the option of deleting comments, because sometimes we pose 2, 3, 4 comments when we really only mean to post one.
I have seen a few of the pictures you added, and I agree a change of pace is nice, but a picture found online or a screen grab for sure has copyright laws attached to it. The safest bet for us is to use the posters, which are meant for promotional pages.
As for comments - you should already have the ability to delete your own comments, so your question tells me that that feature is broken and I didn't know. I'll have to take a look. (Sorry about this one, seems like an annoying problem.)
Hey Zoe, I'm adding Jack Johnson fights, and one of them was scheduled for 45 rounds, but I'm not allowed to enter a number greater than 20, could you alter that?
I wouldn't mind adding fights to the fight Vault database.
Okay! I gave you extra permissions - you have the new user menu option to 'Add Content', described in my comment above. This is great.
Isn't this great mike?!!
I would like to also add some more information here.
My intention is that the process of adding fights doesn't need a lot of explanation, but I want to add a few details about how it works.
If you add a fight where the fighter hasn't appeared on EOTR before, just type the new name and when you create the fight the fighter is created automatically. (And you'll see on the new fight page that the fighter has been created, including a new page for them.)
Let the auto-complete work to attach the correct fighters to the fights - this comment will make sense when you are adding fights.
If you happen to add a fight where the winning fighter hasn't appeared on EOTR yet, just add the fight with the winning fighter blank. This will add the new fighter. Then, edit this newly created fight, add a winner, and the new fighter will be there in the auto-complete for you to use on the winning fighter section.
Right now I don't have a lot of extra checks on what the fight contributors add. I would actually like to open up the site to allow anyone who scores fights to be able to add to the fight database, but I can't safely do that until I put in a bunch of checks to make sure the inputs are real, real people and real fights, and not spam, or hacking, or nonsense. (Unfortunately, that's just a reality... EOTR has already had spammers come in and cause a mess a few times.)
(That last comment above will need to be deleted - after a little bit I'll delete it.)
I accidentally posted the comment above before I was done...
I was also going to add that we don't have a way to enter Split Draw outcomes (coming soon. Not common, but it's a problem with some existing fights already.)
Also, there is a delay for new fights to show up in the New in the Fight Vault section. That is expected.
How do I get the videos to show up for the fights?
Hmm, good question, because I didn't realize that feature was broken. The last time I added videos (and it worked) was before I changed over to the new styles. So most likely something broke then with the videos. I'll take a look and see what I can find.
A much delayed follow up for you guys. (Also, I'll answer the questions after this.) Just wanted to add to the thread that just after I made my last response here, I got sick. I'm still sick, and will likely be for a few more weeks, maybe months. So, I haven't been adding any fights or able to look at all the new additions. (I have seen some though, all the new fights are great.)
I'm interested, hello I'm new.
I would like to be able to expand the fight vault myself, so I don't have to keep bugging others (mainly Champion97) in my pursuit of scoring obscure old fights. Thanks.
If you ever need another person to add fights, I'm at my computer for work/school most of the day, so would be no problem.
Hi all, it's been a long time since I've been able to come around. I'm going to adjust permissions so that a few more people on here can add fights. I've had a few people message me about it over the past few months, and, I just am just now able to respond. If you're still interested, join us on this thread:
Hey Zoe, great to see you back!
Thanks! I'm glad to be back to normal. And I had a lot of work-in-progress on EOTR that I'm glad to be getting back to, things that are partially complete already, so I'm going to be making improvements soon. Also, I saw what you've been doing with the PCOM, it's a great idea, cool that you are doing that! I even have some ideas to maybe make it easier for you to do that - things like maybe making it easier for you to track who's ahead, just some general automation for you. That is, if you like doing it. It's a great idea in any case!
I'm glad you are better, I've been in a bad, bad way this past year, but I'm slowly but surely getting back to normal. That would be awesome, also, will you take part for August?
What did you think of the fights last night?
Oh no... I have a new appreciation for people now who are going through things. I'm sorry to hear that.
I haven't watched the fights. I haven't seen a single fight in over six months. I think I watched only a handful of fights the whole year I was ill, and even then I was watching from my sofa, all sad and sick and miserable. I just haven't gotten back to it yet.
But I haven't lost my passion for the sport, I'll be clear on that. I'm still a fan.
If you're having a hard time lately... I will say, just wait. Time, and time, and more time, helps so many things.
I don't doubt it.
I've found that, also, I know that if I don't kill myself, I haven't lost, and no matter how bad it gets, it is not over, I'm still here, and this won't stop me from rebuilding my life, meeting a girl, starting a career. Boxing is a good distraction for me, I enjoy writing prediction analyses, adding fights, scoring and writing analyses based on the fights, so Eye on the ring has been a big plus.
If you don't mind me asking, is it your mental health which has given you trouble or have you been physically unwell? Or is that not something you want to tell me? If not then I get it.
It was physical. But, it lasted for a long, long time, which is having some mental health consequences, now that I'm well.
Do you feel like you're in the middle of the worst of what's going on, or possibly it's actually getting worse, or do you feel like you're on the moving towards improvement side of things?
I'm getting there, I know I am, gradually, nothing will stop me from doing what I have wanted to do from a kid, live a normal, happy life, work hard, have a wife, kids, make my family proud, do good in the world before I do eventually die, but nothing worth having comes easy, and I have heard of people with mental health issues (similar to mine, I assume, I don't know) committing suicide, it scares me, and I was initially rushed to the crisis team.
OCD is something I've been battling for years, checking, stressing, just generally, needing reassurance over things that are safe, and I can live with that, but the intrusive thoughts, the thoughts telling me to hurt people, and the sexual thoughts, pride attacks, that has taken my ability to live a normal life, it has incapacitated me, it nearly killed me, and it has taken a year out of my life.
I'll be ok, I won't kill myself, I MUST stop the self harm, I am getting better at it, but I have landed a few head punches today, I must never hit my head, but I won't kill myself, and if I don't do that, I have not lost, I am 100% positive I will get there eventually, with the support of my family, friends, but nothing worth having in life comes easy, and to me, being ok, being able to live a normal life, no luxary, just a steady, decent, normal life, to me, is worth fighting for.
I'm sorry for going into so much detail. I'm sorry for your mental health consequences, if you ever need to talk, just drop me a comment, because I understand mental health challenges.
Hey Champ. I sent you an email in reply to this.
Sorry Zoe, that Email is shut down and I don't really use one, could you send the message to me on here?
Hi, I don't believe we have ever spoken but I appreciate that you've made and maintained the site so people can catalog scores and discuss fights. I'd like to be able to add some fights myself if possible as there are quite a lot of historically significant fighters that have an incomplete or non-existent fight catalog. For whatever it is worth, I have some experience adding to online databases.
I also have a few questions regarding the site. Will at least some trusted editors be able to delete duplicate/canceled fights? There are some I remember such as the Mares vs. Gonzalez rematch, Wilder vs. Povetkin, and Spinks vs. Muhammad that should be removed. Also, I have seen some fights where the score averaging and controversy rating gets "stuck". Canelo vs. Golovkin, for example, does not have a controversy rating.
Hi, and thanks!
I'm going to be upgrading a few people's permissions later on - 5 or 6 hours from now - I can add you to the list. I start by giving permissions to add only, and then we can see how that goes. Thank you for being interested! It is much more high risk to give permissions to delete than it is to give permissions to add, however. I wait a long, long time before I give anyone permissions to delete. But I'm pretty willing to give most people permissions to add if they're interested.
But your point is that there are some duplicates - this is a problem for sure. And there are so many that I need to do some queries on the database directly to get all of them at once and fix them. It may sound like an easy fix, but we have cases where there are duplicate fights, and both have fan cards.. and I don't want to lose anyone's fan card... that is actually very important I think. So there needs to be some work done. But... I'm going to be looking at this problem soon, and trying to fix it.
Also... I'd very much like to look at the fights you refer to that have "stuck" stats. There may be a bug, or some other issue, and I'll take a look. I can look at Canelo v Golovkin to start. Thanks for the heads up.
That makes sense, thanks for adding me.
I will have to keep an eye out for fights that the round scoring average is stuck, I have seen it at least once but I can't remember where it was at.
One fight card that could use a quick fix would be Whyte/AJ, as no date is listed, so it is buried down there at the bottom. Plus, there is an increasing likelihood that they have a second fight, so that card/page being accurate would be helpful.
