Round 1- Manny Pacquiao makes the first defense of his WBC Flyweight title against Gabriel Mira, who has held an international title at Super Flyweight. They establish a pretty fast pace right away. Mira is busier, but Pacquiao is impressively catching nearly all of his offense on his arms or on his glove to parry. Pacquiao is able to land the cleaner shots, and even make Mira stagger a bit from a flush left hand.

Round 2- Mira takes the role of the aggressor. He manages to seemingly hurt Pacquiao with a combination that starts downstairs and finishes upstairs, and later snaps Pacquiao’s head back with a right hand. Towards the end, Pacquiao lands a good left hand before dropping Mira with a nice left hook-right hook-left hook combo. Mira gets up dazed. Richard Steele accidentally shoves Mira to the canvas when seperating the fighters at the bell.

Round 3- Pacquiao goes for the kill right away, and Mira clearly is not recovered yet, as he spends the first half of the round trying to hold. Mira tries to hold Pacquiao by the legs after getting tagged with a left, which should have been ruled as a knockdown. Pacquiao continues his assault, and Mira eventually “slips” intentionally. A straight left-right hook combo drops Mira to a knee, but Steele fails to call this a knockdown. Still, Pacquiao continues to assault Mira, who shows heart and tries to fight back. Finally, Pacquiao scores another legit knockdown with a chopping left to the head. Excellent round for the champ.

Round 4- Pacquiao gets Mira’s attention early with a looping left and a right hook. He then starts shooting the 1-2, and sits Mira down with a quick left hand to the chin. After getting up, Mira gets off 2 shots just for a good counter left hand to send him back down. Mira barely beats the count, and is quick to hold. Once he decides to engage, Pacquiao hurts him an umpteenth time with a left and flattens him with a right hook-overhand left combination. What a one-sided beatdown by Pacquiao. This win is especially dominant once taking in the fact that there should have been SEVEN knockdowns credited towards Pacquiao. Despite looking excellent in his first Flyweight title defense, he would not be champion for that much longer.
