Fine tuition for the young Canelo at the hands of the master who, at this stage of his career, was the best pound for pound boxer in the world by the proverbial mile.

This was also a nice example of expert 'cherry-picking' by Mayweather, plainly evident as it was in Canelo’s previous effort against Austin Trout that, regardless of his undeniable talent, he was simply too green to stand a chance against the most sublime technician since Pernell Whitaker. Nevertheless, and despite Canelo’s tactical suicide in attempting to match wits with Mayweather, this was effectively a welterweight against a solid middleweight. Taking that into consideration, Mayweather’s utter dominance constituted one of the defining performances of his long, illustrious career.
