Round 1 - Good start from Ali. Whenever foreman would get close Ali would tie him up preventing him from doing any serious damage. When Foreman was away Ali would hit him clean shots to the chin. Foreman did better towards the end of the round but Ali clearly takes round 1.

Round 2 - I thought this one was pretty even but I still edged it for Ali. I feel like Foreman landed more shots but most of them hit the arms or gloves of Ali whilst alis shots landed flush on foreman chin. The good punches landed on the button by Ali at the end of the Round was enough for him to nick the Round for me.

Round 3 - Another round that was pretty even but I edged it for Foreman. I felt Foreman was the busier fighter for most of the round and he landed some good shots to the body and head. Ali landed more head shots but I feel Foremans additional work to the body got him this round albeit it was very close.

Round 4 - Yet another one that I thought was pretty even. Foreman was a lot more active but most of his shots either missed or didn't land clean. However, Ali really didn't throw much at all this Round but the few punches he did throw seemed to hurt foreman as they landed on the button. Foreman landed some good shots towards the end of the round which tempted me to give this round to him but I feel it just about wasn't enough to win the round.

Round 5 - Very close and exciting round. Foreman was hitting Ali on the ropes for most of the round but in the last 30 seconds Ali came back with many good shots that landed on Foremans chin. I felt Ali snatched this one in the last 30 seconds as most of Foremans shots missed or didn't land clean. Pretty much an even round though.

Round 6 - Very good round for Ali. Neither of them threw that much but it's clear Alis shots had much more of an impact than Foremans. You can tell Foreman was starting ti get really tired here.

Round 7 - A fairly dull round that was pretty even. I edged it for Foreman as Ali wasn't throwing much this round at all. Foreman was exhausted at this point and his shots seemed like they lacked any power. However, he was more active for most of the round and did land some decent body shots which I feel just about gave him the win here.

Round 8 - Foreman was completely spent at this time and Ali knew it. When he was the opening he went for the KO and got it.

As significant as this fight was I wouldn't call it one of the best of all time. Some of the rounds were fairly dull but it definitely had its highlights as well.

Ali has a lot of legendary victories but in my opinion this one was his best. Nobody gave him a chance in this fight yet he was able to KO one of the most feared punchers in boxing history. This victory also made him a 2 time heavyweight champion.

Ali had the perfect game plan for this fight. He tied Foreman up whenever he got close, made him waste his stamina when he was on the ropes and eventually got the stoppage. Flawless execution.

Foreman was terrible in this fight. I gave most of the rounds prior to the stoppage to Ali and whilst some may consider that generous a big reason for it was the way Foreman was throwing punches. I don't know how to properly explain it but the windmill technique he was using made his punches lack that sort of 'snap' to indicate they were doing damage. Its obvious he was way too in love with his power and he paid the price for it. A rematch would've been interesting though.
