Wallin should have had a point taken for brushing the cut right in front of the ref. That was very dirty. Otherwise, he came in with a good gameplan and showed the will to win. Fury landed the far more effective shots overall, but for a fighter of his level, this was about the best performance Wallin could have had.
As for Fury, this shows why he has to be on the top of his game regardless of the opponent. All it took was one punch to dramatically shift the danger of the fight. I don't think Fury gets hurt in the 12th if he doesn't burn his tank to try to KO Wallin after sustaining the cut.
I'm sure many will shit on Fury for this fight. As the saying goes, to the fans (even some hardcores) you're only as good as your last fight. However, to me, this HW and it is judged by different standards. This wasn't exactly an impressive performance, but many of the greatest HWs of all-time were KOed by much less talented opposition. Particularly, once we got in to the era of super-HWs (bigger punchers) 90s on. So, I definitely can say a win like this changes my outlook on matchups against other elite HWs.
