Re: Batyr Akhmedov vs Argenis Mendez
Prediction.
Mendez is very experienced, has some decent wins, but he is old, has a fair amount of miles, I don't think he hits hard or has a great chin. Akhmedov doesn't have a great chin, but he hits hard, has good footwork, accuracy, is a good pressure fighter. Mendez is awkward, is hard to make a statement against knows how to neutralise the tempo of the fight, pulls away from shots, isn't offensively great, doesn't have the most accurate jab, but he jabs with method, and uses it to offset the opponent, I think he can deal with Akhmedov's sheer pressure, he's the more established 12 round fighter, but Akhmedov has good stamina, is offensively good, and will have learned from the Barrios fight.
I think Akhmedov will push Mendez onto the back foot in the early rounds, will cut off the ring, will take time to find openings, but will be patient, will defend as he comes forward, will set up the left hand, and as soon as he's landed clean, he will do damage, the momentum will swing his favour, Mendez will be on the defensive, will be ready for Akhmedov to punch himself out and to exploit it, but Akhmedov won't rush, will walk Mendez down, and will be selective with his shots, and will break Mendez down.
I think Akhmedov stops Mendez mid, and make a statement, I'd be surprised if this went the distance.

Re: Batyr Akhmedov vs Argenis Mendez
Akhmedov out worked Mendez in the early rounds, but was looking for openings, used his footwork, but Mendez held up fine under the pressure of Akhmedov at that stage, and defended well, and on the mid rounds, when Akhmedov stopped his head movement, he was able to time him with the right hand. Akhmedov did more damage in the mid rounds, had more momentum than in the early rounds, Mendez didn't have the power to make him take a backward step, didn't have the legs to use the ring, and Akhmedov was more accurate than earlier in the fight. I was impressed by Akhmedov offensively, but not defensively, his head movement was very inconsistent, he moved his head to an unnecessary extent in the early rounds, when no shots were coming, likely took something away from his own offence, and he wasn't moving his head enough in the mid rounds.
