Fight Notes: Bernard Hopkins' first bout with Robert Allen goes down as the most famous for its controversial ending. While attempting to separate the fighters from a clinch in round four, Referee Mills Lane accidentally pushes Hopkins through the ropes and down to the ringside floor. Hopkins is injured in the fall and unable to continue, rendering the bout no contest. |
