Re: Brandon Figueroa vs Stephen Fulton
Prediction.
Figueroa is stronger, hits harder, and has a far better chin, but there is no comparison for speed, Fulton is defensively better, and is definitely the better boxer on the outisde. Fulton is predominantly a boxer who uses the ring, but he's proven in recent fights that he's a good inside fighter, I don't think he's a better inside fighter than Figueroa, but Figueroa has to do more than fight him in close to beat him. Both fighters are great athletes, Figueroa is very durable, his lack of defence cost him against Ceja, he took a lot of damage, but he still took hard shots to head and body, in high volume, and was still competitive in the late rounds, Fulton has boxed at a fast pace for 12 rounds in his last 2 fights, his movement hasn't slowed down, and no opponent has been able to test his limit. Both fighters have great variety, both are great body punchers, but that is more important for Figueroa, as Fulton is more reliant on foot speed. Fulton's fundamentals are far better than Figueroa's, his reflexes are far better, Figueroa can't out think and set up Fulton, but it will be interesting to see how easy it is for Fulton to be a step ahead and set traps himself.
I think the fight will be competitive throughout, Figueroa will look to impose his size from the start, Fulton will struggle with the volume and awkward angles, but will adapt to Figueroa's tactics early, will land good combinations at mid range, will be mobile, and the fight will be fought at a high tempo. I think when Figueroa lands a great shot on the inside, he will hurt Fulton, and Fulton won't be able to hurt him, but when the tempo drops, Fulton's speed and technique will be the difference, and he will be able to knick points to do edge out narrow rounds. I think whenever the fight is at a low tempo, on the outside, Fulton will be dominant, the fight will be competitive on the inside, Figueroa will have the better of it on the inside for the most part, but the vast majority of the fight will be fought on the inside.
I think this will be a very close fight, I wouldn't be at all surprised if Figueroa won, but I think Fulton will edge it by a close decision.

Re: Brandon Figueroa vs Stephen Fulton
Phenomenal performance from Fulton, I'm surprised so many people think Figueroa did enough to win, I thought his timing was great, he had the perfect balance between being too reluctant to fight on the inside, which would have allowed Figueroa to build momentum, and fighting Figueroa's fight, he was more comfortable under Figueroa's pressure than I expected, given Figueroa's strength and volume. Figueroa tried to use his reach in the early rounds, which didn't take much out of him, and Fulton had to be busy with his feet to be in range to land, but hw stepped in with the right hand, timed it perfectly, threw it as a lead and a counter, didn't need to set it up with the jab. I think Figueroa fought too much of the fight as a southpaw, it made him an easier target for the right hand, Fulton was ready for his attacks in both stances, he didn't switch hit as much as I expected, but he held up well, had success when he was able to close the gap, didn't try to be clever or try to be a puncher, he used his output, and made Fulton work physically and mentally, Fulton did a great job defensively on the inside, considering the variety of angles Figueroa's shots were coming from, which might be the reason Fulton had more in the tank at the end of the fight, Figueroa hurt him in round 10, but he responded well, recovered, and finished strong.

Re: Brandon Figueroa vs Stephen Fulton
mixed feelings to hear ship took a u turn back to the shores of 122 for Figueroa to make this rematch happen hopefully he manages to cut weight effectively and a cvid complication or other injuries doesn't postpone this now and in time prevent this rematch from taking place this year
MJ may have to keep the IBF and WBA happy fighting Tapales and Rios reapectively
