Fight Notes:

A reasonable matchup statistically: Bolonti had a 63% kayo percentage, while Pascal had a 53% kayo percentage coming in. Both men turned pro in 2005. Pascal had 233 rounds boxed, Bolonti 183 rounds coming in, a decisive edge in experience to Pascal. Pascal scored a flash knockdown of Bolonti early in round two. Past the halfway point in round two, Pascal went into a clinch. Bolonti struggled to get out of the clinch as Pascal would not let go. Bolonti hit Pascal behind the head, Pascal turned Bolonti to the ropes. The referee called break. Pascal then fouled, improperly hitting Bolonti with a short right hook off the referee's break. Bolonti headed to the canvas face first, was rolled to his back along the ropes by a ring doctor, and did not move from that point on, being removed by emergency personnel with oxygen on a stretcher. Despite the infraction, the bout was ruled a 'No Contest' rather than a disqualification. However, Pascal's planned challenge on March 14, 2015, to World Light Heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev, guaranteed if Pascal won this bout, was cancelled out by the fight result. Among those commenting with postfight analysis, Roy Jones Jr. accused Bolonti of faking injury. Video shot from ringside was later released showing Bolonti's promoter instructing him to stay down. Canadian professional boxing rules do not allow a win by foul within four rounds, ruled an unintentional foul by Pascal in Quebec. Replay of the foul and what ensued on Russian television
