Fight Notes: 

The contest was toe to toe for much of the fight. Stracey had a slight lead for the first six rounds, scoring with his long right hand leads and good left jabs and hooks to the head of Palomino. Carlos was doing a job on Stracey's body at this point, taking everything the champ had to offer. Carlos started to come-on in round seven, and was carrying the fight to the champion, who started to slow down and began to look worried. The next four rounds Palomino kept on coming, scoring to the body as the champion tried to hold him off. The twelfth and final round saw Palomino come out for the kill. John looked about out on his feet. Those body blows had taken all the fight out of him. Carlos opened up with a barrage of lefts and rights to the body, and down went the king. Stracey was up at eight and was again under attack from the U.S.A. boxer. Carlos landed another barrage of body punches and Stracey was again on the deck, again struggling to his feet. As Stracey leaned against the ropes for support, the referee stepped in to stop the fight at 1:35 of the round.

Palomino didn't look like he had much left against Benitez, either that or he just couldn't figure out how to fight him.

Not sure how the write up had Stracey with a slight lead after 6 when Palomino handily won the first 3 rounds. Through 3 30-27 Palomino.

The 4th he had Stracey's head snapping around every which way like a bobble-head doll. 4-0 Palomino. Stracey did have some good points in this round.

Round 5 is the first round where a case can be made that is was Stracey's round. He really went for ir this round, being so far behind, I'm giving it to him.

Round 6 another good round for John at least through the first half. Palomino did have a good second half of the round, but I thought Stracey did enough to win the round.

Stacey gave what he had left in the 11th and Palomino didn't do a lot so I gave this round to John.
