Muhammad Ali vs. Floyd Patterson I
Fight Notes: In his second defense of the Heavyweight Championship, Muhammad Ali takes on former champion Floyd Patterson. After dancing the entire first round, Ali begins to dominate Patterson with his jab. In round six, Ali finally opens up with an assault that forces Patterson to take a knee. With Patterson clearly fighting with a bad back and taking too much punishment, Referee Harold Krause finally calls a halt to the fight in the twelfth round. |

Re: Muhammad Ali vs. Floyd Patterson I
Patterson's back was horrible in this fight. Ali deserves as much credit for this win as he did for beating 45 year old moore into retirement and a literally handicapped cleveland williams. I understand opposition was dry back then and ali did eventually beat about everyone of note from this period, but this was pitiful. Patterson put up a vicious fight in the 2nd coming, though. I had him ahead until that freak cut opened up and stopped the fight.

Clay makes a mockery of the sport of boxing and of Little Richard hair having Patterson.

Re: Muhammad Ali vs. Floyd Patterson I
Ali supposedly tried to carry Patterson because of Patterson's injury thinking Krause would stop the fight earlier, but Krause let the fight keep going.
