Prediction,

If this fight was happening 2 years ago, I would have predicted Tete to win, Tete set an early KO record, and Casimero lost to Sultan at roughly the same time, but now, it's a harder fight to predict. Casimero has all the momentum, has fought 3 times this year, comes off 2 decent wins, Tete hasn't fought in 13 months, he's 31, he didn't impress in his last 2 fights.

Tete is a good boxer, solid skilset, but I don't think he's a good inside fighter, he doesn't have a high output, and Casimero is a good offensive fighter. I think Tete picks his shots better than Casimero, is more accurate, and he can execute a KO, but I think Casimero hits harder. Casimero is a come forward fighter, a good pressure fighter, but also a good defensive fighter.

Casimero is a switch hitter, is awkward. Tete has good preparation for Casimero's unpredictable stance, his last 3 opponents have been southpaws, but he will probably have more orthodox sparring partners, as Casimero's official stance is orthodox. Casimero has not fought a southpaw since 2011, so Tete is a bad opponent for him.

I don't see Tete starting fast in this fight, he isn't an aggressive fighter, he often fights at a tentative pace, and with the inactivity, he will probably take more time to get his find his rhythm. Casimero has to take advantage of the early rounds, get the momentum, and not allow Tete to settle down, find his range. Tete has been down at least twice, not a lot in 31 fights, but his chin is questionable, and I think Casimero can definitely hurt him, based on his last 2 fights.

Casimero is bound to struggle with the stance of Tete, I think it's more of a question of how much he'll struggle with it, and if he'll still be able to pressure Tete, make him work, even with the issues he'll have with Tete's stance. Casimero has been down at least 3 times in his career, he fights at a high tempo, probably lands more and takes more than Tete on average, so I think he has a decent chin, but it's easy to underestimate Tete's power, and he has a few impressively early stoppages, so I think with the right set up, Tete can definitely hurt Casimero.

I think Tete wins this, I would not be at all surprised if Casimero won, but I think in the first half, although Tete's inactivity will be a factor, the stance will be more of a factor. I think in the late rounds, although Casimero will be the aggressor, and will get the better of him on the inside, Tete will land the best shots when he can get some distance, set up a shot, at mid range as well as at long range, he can do damage, especially if he lands the uppercut.

I think Tete will edge this fight by UD.

Casimero is a very good offensive fighter but Tete has all the advantages, size, reach and will probably outclass him making it harder for Casimero to knock him out which i think it’s his only path to victory. It will be competitive but Tete will win it for me

Gold's picture

Turned it on in the 3rd round to see Casimero smoke Tete. Hit him clean with one shot to the head and Tete's legs were finished. Very surprising

Saw that. Unbelievable performance from Casimero. Now I wonder if Tete’s injuries were legit before Donaire fight or if it was just an excuse because he knew Nonito was gonna whoop him

MINIMaxBOXING's picture

Tete should have focused on Casmiero instead of Inoue! Never look past your opponent!

Champion97's picture

100% agree

Gold's picture

If Inoue is recovered in time I'd love to see Inoue vs. Casimero as the Wilder vs. Fury II co-feature. It would be another Top Rank vs. PBC fight and having Wilder and Inoue on one card would be fantastic

Champion97's picture

I agree, but with the facial fracture, you have to question his future.

Gold's picture

Yeah, historically that is a bad injury to get but Donaire himself fractured or broke his orbital bone versus Rigondeaux and continued on well despite going up too far in weight, so there is hope.

Champion97's picture

If it holds up, he should have a great future, I think Donaire was not only not finished but further from finished than we thought, Inoue will be less hyped by a lot of people, but he'll have learned more against Donaire than in any other fight.
