Re: Zolani Tete vs Omar Andres Narvaez
Prediction,
This is a good one!
These are two very high calibre fighters!
I would say this is almost a 50/50 fight, but for the age factor, Tete, 30, not young, not old, Narvaez, 42, very old indeed. Narvaez isn't as well known as he should be, he has had a fantastic career, he has many, many world title wins, but he has had a very long career, and now, he isn't the fighter he once was.
Tete is an absolute giant, 5'9 is the empire state building for flyweight-bantamweight, it is easy to forget just how tall he is, until you watch him fight, and realise what a giant he is for the weight, there are middleweights who are his height, many welterweights are shorter than him.
Tete has just over half a foot on Narvaez, 16 centimetres, 20 centimetres reach, I think Narvaez is going to struggle with the height and reach of Tete.
Interestingly, despite the height difference, Narvaez and Tete have a similar weight history, neither have competed below 112, neither have ever competed above 122, neither have have competed above 118 many times, neither have a great deal of experience at 118, I think they've both had the bulk of their career success at 115, so overall, size, weight, should be that significant in the fight, but I think it is always very difficult when you fight an opponent with so much height and reach on you, and Narvaez has an tricky night ahead of him.
I don't think either of these guys have been particularly active or inactive.
I think if there wasn't an obvious age advantage for Tete, this would be a very interesting fight indeed, Tete, I think would still be a notch up from Narvaez, I just think Tete, as well as being the best in his division, is a great fighter, and his talent, outstanding boxing ability and athleticism, I think, even when Narvaez was at his best, even considering all he has achieved, Tete would still have had the edge, but that is a very hard one to call.
I think Narvaez would have had a decent chance of beating Tete if both guys were in their primes, I think he began at world title level at a younger age, he has more experience fighting for world titles, I think Tete can be hurt.
It isn't easy to make a case for a 42 year old to win any fight really at this level, especially a small fighter, and I think really, that simply the reason why this isn't at all a hard for me to make a prediction for.
I think Narvaez will be strong early, maybe for 3-4 rounds, but before long, I think Tete will take over, punish Narvaez as he comes forward, I think he'll give him a beating, I woukdnt be surprised if Tete stopped Narvaez, but I just think Narvaez is tough as tungsten, even at 42, and he'll last the distance, but I don't think he'll have much success, and if the fight unfolds the way I think it will, Narvaez should retire after this fight.
I think Tete wins, UD, a landslide, I'd be surprised if the margin was even as narrow as 6 points.

Re: Zolani Tete vs Omar Andres Narvaez
Just a slog of a fight. One of the most boring championship fights I've seen. Narvaez was negative the whole fight, and Tete only did what he had to in order to win. Easy 12 rounds for him, but he should have put this guy out. That was the longest 12 rounds I've sat through.

Narvaez sucks. This was one boring fight man...more boring than a regular Lara defense vs a no hoper.

Re: Zolani Tete vs Omar Andres Narvaez
You can not criticise a fighter when he is the only man in the fight, and Tete, dominant as usual, but Narvaez, he did not want to be involved, mentally, it went against him, and all he did was moved, contributed towards the negativity of the fight, in moderation, that is not a bad thing, but that is all he did, and in boxing, you have to actually attack your opponent at least to some degree to win a fight in any form. I think Tete would have impressed more had he been in with an opponent who wanted to engage, I think people underestimate how difficult it is to look good against a fighter doing what Narvaez did for 12 rounds.
