Re: Oscar Valdez vs Andres Gutierrez
This one may be off, as Gutierrez came in 11lbs over weight, and no clear replacement for him as of now.

Re: Oscar Valdez vs Andres Gutierrez
Gutierrez was 136.8 at the 14-day weigh-in and 133 at the 7-day weigh-in to weigh in at 141, he actually decided to gain it back on purpose. Safe to say he won't be getting any calls any time soon.

Re: Oscar Valdez vs Andres Gutierrez
What did he think he would achieve? It's obvious he would lose money, fight wouldn't happen, and he would look an idiot, makes no sense to do something so stupid.

Re: Oscar Valdez vs Andres Gutierrez
Agreed. He may as well quit the sport. He doesn't even deserve the dignity of a proper retirement. If he had trouble making this weight, he had plenty of time before now to let everyone know so a replacement could be found in a timely manner instead of 30 hours before fight time.

Re: Oscar Valdez vs Adam Lopez
Lopez and Gutierrez are very different fighters, and besides being very different to the fighter Valdez had been preparing for, style wise, I think he is better than Gutierrez, he's certainly more technically skilled. It wasn't a good performance overall, he struggled with Lopez's movement, wasn't cutting off the ring, and Lopez out boxed him for a lot of the fight. I think the stoppage was slightly premature, but understandable, he gave Lopez a chance after he was dropped, let him continue until he took a few unanswered punches, clean, full power, he lacked survival skill, Lopez, and I think it would have been a more conclusive, and more damaging stoppage had Mora let it go on. This was a great learning fight for Lopez, he raised his stock, he can come back a better fighter.
