R1- Funny how the early Showbox commentator claims before the fight that Charlo needs more power, when he would show a devastating amount against the best competition available to make himself that years down the line. As expected, Charlo is moving and working off of the jab, while occasionally landing check hooks and right hands behind it. Santana is comibg forward and throwing combinations, but Charlo is weaving under and around about everything that comes his way, remaining virtually unscatched.

R2- Santana is doing better at cutting off the ring, and maintains some success when he puts Charlo against the ropes. Charlo on the other hand is finding a home for the lead left hook and is seemingly more accurate with his combinations. They close the round with a series of entertaining exchanges, that Charlo edges off of his counterpunching. Swing round, but I give it to Charlo for consistency.

R3- The commentators are being rough on Charlo’s power and usage of his right, even though his right seems to land every time it is thrown. Charlo is showing better defense when Santana gets going, and continues to be the far more accurate between the two.

R4- The lost-looking Santana spends most of the round walking into double and triple jabs. He gets up close and starts winging right hands at the end, but it is far too little to win him the round.

R5- Despite landing some body shots at the very start, Santana once again steps off the gas and lets Charlo fight his own fight. After absorbing a clean left hook, Charlo gets Santana against the ropes and blasts his ribs with a left hook, causing Santana to pick him up and drop him. A right hand mildly buckles Santana at the end.

R6- Charlo comes out more aggressive, throwing combinations and overall winning the first half of the round. Right before the midway point, a counter overhand right buckles Charlo and causes him to spend about a minute clinching. Santana does a good job at breaking out of the clinch and landing hooks to the head of Charlo. While Charlo comes back to do his own work, especially to the body, Santana is always responding. Good comeback round for the underdog.

R7- It appears that Santana punched himself out during his rally last round, as not much comes from him here. Charlo is mostly coasting with the jab, but he starts to potshot some rights in the final minute.

R8- In a fight Charlo has clearly already won on points, he seems content to close by coasting. However, this in turn makes him more of an open target, thus causing him to get hit with way too many unecessary body shots. Despite showing some inconsistency and immaturity, this was overall a very good performance by Charlo, and a pretty solid win over a sturdy gatekeeper.
