R1- While Charlo seemed confused by the southpaw stance at first in his last bout against Chris Chatman, Douglin’s does not defer it him at all. Both are working off their backhand and having good success. Despite the two being tied in terms of ring generalship as well as Douglin landing numerous clean lefts on Charlo, it is the latter who is hitting home more often, showing an advantage in speed to help beat his opponent to the punch, and overall landing the more eye-catching shots, as he snaps back the head of Douglin twice with rights.

R2- More back and forth action, and this one can only be scored by a razor thin margin. Whenever the two are up close, Douglin gets the better of it and he has established a better body attack between the two. Charlo, however with the jab is doing better, and this punch allows him to land several hard rights from the outside. One in particular pops out the mouthguard of Douglin. An accidental push drops Douglin into the ropes towards the end, and replays confirmed it was not a knockdown. So a very hard round to score, but I edge Charlo for landing the more eye-catching punches.

R3- Despite showing good defense in moments, Charlo is too inconsistent and passive. Douglin is able to push back Charlo, who is holding more than usual, while digging several shots to the body and push the pace.

R4- Now Charlo is in complete control of the distance, as he finds a home for the looping right hand on the outside, and consistently catches Douglin comjng in with check hooks and uppercuts. Douglin is ineffective, but he stands up to a few big 1-2’s that Charlo lands in the second half. Good round for Charlo, who was certainly about to build on what he established this round.

R5- With both looking to land one shot at a time for a bit, Charlo times Douglin with a vicious right hand that bloodies and sends him crashing to the canvas. Douglin struggles to rise and it appears that he won’t, just for him to get up with no legs under him, causing him to spin and reel into the other side of the ring. Just like that, Charlo savagely knocks out Mama’s Boy right in front of his mom. This is the second excellent one-punch knockout in a row for Charlo, as people doubted his power apropos. I do think this is a good win for Charlo due to the weight that’d be added due to Douglin giving longer and harder fights to bigger world champions in George Groves, David Benavidez, and Anthony Dirrell. This is a great, underrated bout as well, and a strong performance by the visibly growing Charlo.
