Damn Ortiz got robbed here. At the very worst I could have seen a draw but 117-111 Lopez?! Not a chance!

iAmCerberus's picture

There are 121 Scorecards on BoxRec.
These are the Total Averages:
Ortiz — 113.4
Lopez — 113.6
That’s a difference of 0.2 Points — or 1/5th of 1 Round.

These are Averages for Rounds.
Number of Rounds won “comfortably” (or, “most comfortably”)
Ortiz - 3 ( 70% | 69% | 69% )
Lopez - 3 ( 89% | 78% | 84% )

That’s a total of 6 Rounds.

The leaves 6 other Rounds-that were either “close”, or “extremely close”.

You-personally, scored the Fight 115-113.

A Fight being “potentially-incorrect”-based on the Winner of 1 of the 12 Rounds—in Fight where every Round is Competitive…
Is.
Not.
A.
Robbery.

Every round competitive? Not really, Lopez got outboxed pretty clearly in most of them.

Interesting data, thank you for the insight.
Perhaps 'robbed' was a bit dramatic, in retrospect I think my beef was with the 117-111 card in particular. Plus, the fact that scorecards here are 9-3 in favour of Ortiz yet he went 0-3 with the judges just seemed wrong.
Shame about the passive aggressive garbage at the end as your argument was well made to that point.

Not a very interesting fight, but I see no robbery here. Ortiz looked like he wanted to escape the fight, running away from Lopez all the time. Ortiz did touch in short sequences but most of the time he was more occupied in not being touched than in really trying to touch his opponent, and I don't see him winning that many rounds.

It was definitely a robbery. Ortiz was the one controlling the pace of the fight and doing what he wanted to do. He also connected on more punches and more often. That was enough to win most of the rounds. Not sure how he was trying to "escape the fight."
