R1- This is the first fight in the career of Floyd Mayweather Jr. with his dad in his corner. First round is not on film, but I’ll assume that Mayweather won it with ease.

R2- Melo seems overwhelmed temporarily by the body attack of Mayweather. Later, Mayweather leans on top of Melo and drops him with two rights to the body. The ref should have called for a break before the knockdown occured. Melo actually manages to tag Mayweather with a big left hook immediately after taking the count, but Mayweather takes it well and blocks the majority of his follow up afterwards. Mayweather gets Melo on the ropes and catches him with several hooks, even bloodying his nose with a right hook. Mayweather gets away with hitting after the bell.

R3- Mayweather is forcing the fight to be in the pocket, digging hooks to both sides of Melo’s body, catching and slipping basically all of his punches, and catching him with clean counters. Melo gets cocky after taking a right uppercut, causing Mayweather to gradually pick up the pace. A left hook to the chin spins Melo’s head and makes him tackle Mayweather, who then puts him down with a left hook to the body. Despite rising fast, Melo indicates he does not wish to continue. Melo also would decide that boxing was not for him anymore after this loss.
